Looking for a Video Editor Choices....

Windows 10 Pro, UHD monitor, i5-3570k with 8gig Ram

I'm looking for a basic video editor that I can convert pictures and some old videos in a few formats vob, mp2, avi to make a new movie dvd for the family.

It would be nice to have one that I'm able to easily correct basic adjustment to videos such as stabilize frames and sharpen old black and white movie footage.

I have a old version of Sony Las Vegas from many years ago but looking to upgrade to something newer.

So far I like Adobe Premiere Elements 2020 at $100, and Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 $80

So what do you use or suggest?

Might I suggest that you re-consider your objective. DVDs are falling out of use. I don't have a DVD drive in my latest computer and this is going to become commonplace. Just think about putting your recordings on computer drives. If you want to give somebody else a copy of your home movie then email it to them, share it using an online facility such as OneDrive or give them a USB stick with the home movie copied onto it.

Denis I have considered that as the USB 3.1 or 3.2 thumb drives are so cheap these day.
I'm 70 and want to make sure my kids have copies of all the pictures and videos I have from 1939 World Fair in NYC to present.
Everything is digital now and I also considering buying a few of these and put everything on it for my kids/grand kids and great grand kids.
I like this new ADATA external for its size and is USB 3.2 GEN 2 with 1000 mbps transfer rate for future computers.
Even a great storage media that I can store in the safe deposit box for future.

Personally, I'd settle for keeping copies on my computer drives, in my own backups & on two backups to USB memory sticks from any established, reputable seller [as somebody to set & check manufacturing standards].
    - USB memory stick, USB thumb drive, ... are all names for the same thing.
    - I regard SanDisk, Seagate & WD as OK. There are probably others whose names simply don't spring tp mind at the moment.
    - They are just intermediaries and they all get them made in the Far East but they check that the things are made properly, which we wouldn't know about if we went straight to an unknown seller.
    - I'd buy them from Amazon [not Amazon Marketplace as that can allow fake products through] or a local shop that expects to last more than a decade and therefore takes steps to maintain good standing.
    - You could also send your relatives each a copy now for them to copy onto their computers and hence into their own backups. And you'd be able to nag them about backing up instead of just listening to them all the time telling you how to use your own computer.
