Calendar app stuck on Creating account with Gmail

Many users I have the same problem on windows 10
Calendar app stuck on Creating account with Gmail-2020-02-22_07-15-25.png

The calendar was working but was (maybe) buggy. So I log off from my calendar Gmail account then I tried to reenabled it. But the app get stuck on "c
    reating account".

    I tried:

+ to (un)install the calendar (using the UI, then PowerShell as admin), and rebooting. (so I used the last updated app)

+ I waited: I tried again days after days.

+ I posted the problem on the feedback hub, and on the MS store.

+ The email of my google account is the same than the email MS/edge account. Since the calendar works with the MS/edge account (I can add events though it) I also tried to logout from it, and login again, but it did not solve the issue.

+ I also check the permission (by
clicking the mail app in start menu, choose app settings. It seems fine:

+ I tried resetting the app (cf. above)

    Nothing worked.

It could be a cache file somewhere that needs to be deleted (maybe some file of the Gmail account has not been properly disconnected/deleted so it can't create a new one).

    Any idea?

Please confirm that when you are adding your Gmail account you are using your Gmail password.

While you user name for Gmail and your Microsoft account maybe the same they should each have their own password.

If you are indeed entering your Gmail password and it still doesn't work confirm that the password is correct by logging in to Gmail account through a browser. Assuming it works you have two possible next steps.

Create an app password for your Gmail account and use that in the Windows apps or allow gmail to be used by less secure apps.

Thanks for your reply, and sorry for the delay of reply.

Yes I confirm I'm entering the Gmail password (not the microsoft one), and the password works.

Allowing gmail to be used by less secure apps, doesn't solve it.

It doesnt seem related to gmail permission (and by the way it was working before I removed the account and login again).

It also get stuck on "creating an account" with other gmail accounts.

(I tried to uninstall and install the app, with and without rebooting)

Have you tried either allowing less secure apps or an app password.

I would opt for app password.

In brief: it doesn't work, and it (most probably) has nothing to do with gmail authentification since you first need to successfully login to your gmail account to get to the "creating account" final step.

    In detail:
I tried allowing less secure apps, It did not work.

Then I tried to login an app password, it did not work, but for another reason:

    For that I did:
    - activate on mail the
    2 step verification sign in.
    - I created an app psw to provide access for calendar on my computer windows 10
    - I tried again to connect using my gmail email, and the password provided for the "app password", but gmail did not recognized password. But that seems to be another problem not related since when I tried again with my (normal) gmail password, it send me a verification sms, and when it was validated, it went to the "creating account".

If you go to accounts in Windows settings, then the heading Email and Accounts is your Gmail account listed there?

Is Gmail already setup with the linked Mail App ?

If so you are on the wrong dialog box.

In which case you go to in Calendar or Mail Apps.
Cog > Manage Accounts > Select an Account to edit settings.
Then click on your Gmail Account.
Then a dialog box pops up >
    Change mailbox sync settings
Options for syncing your content >
Scroll down that box to Sync options > Calendar > On.

You can get there via the Mail App as well.

In the left column of Calendar tick the Calendar box under Gmail.

I would remove your Email Account from Mail/Calendar and set it up again.
    Also update your Mail/Calendar App.

    Other options are:
Settings > Apps > Mail and Calendar > click on that uninstall, or Advanced options > check your App permissions and scroll down for Reset and another uninstall.

The Mail and Calendar App is in MS Store so easy enough to get it back.
I have 5 Accounts setup with Mail App/Calendar one of which is Gmail.

No, there is no email listed on Email and Accounts. (And I get the same problem when I try to add my gmail adress (or another), it connect to gmail, then ask for permission, then the windows popup "creating account" get stuck).

ps: since I use the same email to connect with edge (the one show on the screenshot above in "account used by other apps"), I removed it but it did not solve the issue.

No it isn't (it's not that easy ;-) ). Cf my last answer.

Thank you guys for your perseverance!

I guess the gmail account hasn't been completely deleted, windows or the app messed up somewhere.

If I'm following along, there are no accounts listed under Email and Accounts in settings. Then I think Helmut suggests, and I'm paraphrasing, the account should first be in Mail.

Could you add the gmaill account to Mail and then follow Helmut's post.

Thanks for your help, but as I said above, I can't for the same reason (stuck on creating an account).
