Will a 32 bit application start on bootup?

I was just looking to have a CPU temp readout in the System Tray

Tried my tried and true but somewhat dated SpeedFan (latest ver 2.52) and after installing it ran fine.

Configured it and got a nice CPU temp readout with good colour and size in the Sys Tray.... As I wanted

What I couldn't do is get the program to start on bootup. Even tried the old school shortcut in the Startup folder and Zilch

Tried a few others but could get none of them to start on bootup.

Then I tried Core Temp 1.15.1 from MajorGeeks . The program actually had a run on startup option

    FINALLY success.

Am I missing something? Can 32 bit applications Start Up on Boot? Is this the correct forum?

Remember when the newest programs were 32 bit?

The options for startup are likely application specific.

    HWinfo64 has startup options.

Consider downloading and installing HWinfo32 to view its menu options:

I need both the Startup option AND the system tray readout

    Already have HWinfo64 installed

    Hello Frank,

If these apps require to run as administrator (elevated), then that would be why they don't run at startup.

By default, Windows will not run a program as administrator at startup for security reasons.

As a workaround, you could create an elevated shortcut using the method in the tutorial below, and move this elevated shortcut into your Startup folder. This will allow it to run at startup.

Create Elevated Shortcut without UAC prompt in Windows 10

For system tray options consider Speccy:

Good.... I'm so used the Microsoft not doing anything effective for security

Didn't think about security but that's a good thing
