I found Reader becoming too bloated so I removed it and now just use Chrome to read pdf files

Hello Edwin, I am having big problems with Acrobat reader. I have used this program for years, but now I cannot open pdfs. I have tried your suggestion above and the icon appears on my desktop, but it will not open. I can open Acrobat touch. I hope you can help.

There are countless PDF readers available, many for free.
It's ironic that Adobe, the inventor of PDF, offers the worst performing PDF reader.

I used to recommend Foxit Reader.
That's still a good choice, but today I prefer PDF-Xchange Viewer.

Both are free and both leave Adobe in the dust.

I use PDF-XChange Pro FTW. One time payment, no subscriptions unless you want to have extra support which is not needed.

All DC users are insane alphatesters. Here are usable versions - installer and (as of today) recent update:

    2017
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader...17/1700830051/
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader...17/1701130175/

    2020
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader...20/2000130002/
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader...20/2000130005/

However, no need to install updates manually unless you disable related scheduled task.
