    Thats bizarre......so it's just the .ink files.

    I use a similar setup, but with GoogleDrive and don't get that behaviour.....so if its not W10, it must be a OneDrive issue. Im puzzled.

    @simrick : Ah hold on.....what are the security permissions on the shortcuts? Full Control?

    Well, the Macrium one is administrator level. But the others were just links to excel spreadsheets within the documents sub-folders. This user account is also an administrator account.

    Yeah, I don't understand this at all. This is a clean install of v1903 pro. I'm getting ready to update to 1909 via an in-place upgrade. Then I'm going to add the Macrium shortcut link to the desktop and see if I still have the problem. I know the OS is in good shape - sfc-scannow was clean. Like I said, it was just clean installed a few days ago. Well we'll see what happens with the upgrade to v1909.

    You have no access to these Options?

    OK, so the shortcuts have either 'Full-Control' or 'Special Permissions' set when viewing the shortcut Properties>Security tabs?

    What a frustrating issue.....Im no wiser.

    Yes, I do. But I don't think that has anything to do with my problem. That looks like collaborated files.

    @simrick:

    Do you get the same behaviour if you create a "blank" shortcut on the desktop? For example for Notepad.

    Here is the properties info on the Macrium shortcut (it's the same for all three):

    The others were all shortcuts to excel spreadsheets - nothing special - just shortcuts pointing to excel files within sub-folders of Documents.

    Well, I'll do the upgrade tomorrow and report back. Thanks, both of you.

    OK.

    I have a wild suggestion : have you tried creating a new normal user, then testing the OneDrive sync with the new user profile? Im just guessing here.
