    OK.

I have a wild suggestion : have you tried creating a new normal user, then testing the OneDrive sync with the new user profile? Im just guessing here.
This is a new user, actually. I originally had tried logging into the Office apps (including OneDrive), then creating a folder in OneDrive online, then opening File Manager windows on the computer and dragging over the folders I wanted backed up into the folder I created online. Well, that didn't work because when I dragged Documents over, I got errors that My Music, My Pictures and My Videos were missing (reparse points). So, I attempted to put everything back and start over. Unfortunately, things weren't cooperating, so I created a new user, moved all the data over to that one, and deleted the old user account. I then setup OneDrive letting it do things the way it wanted in this new account, and that's when I started having this sync issue.

One other problem I have is that it won't backup the active pst/ost outlook file. I had to move that to a folder outside Documents. Not sure why either. That doesn't seem right to me. That doesn't really concern me though, since I have a redundant backup which captures it without issue.

EDIT: As an FYI: If anyone comes here looking for a resolution to the "My Music, My Pictures and My Videos" error/problem, I did read online that if you go into OneDrive online and delete those three folders, the error will go away. I cannot confirm this, but it did work for someone else.

Do you get the same behaviour if you create a "blank" shortcut on the desktop? For example for Notepad.
I've copied the shortcut to notepad to the desktop. But, I've got the v1909 ISO on there now, and it's backing up, so it'll be a while. I've got to go dent the pillow soon. I'll leave the system on and see what it shows tomorrow.

    Night.

Well, I woke up to a completely backed-up (v1903) system with 2 *.lnk files on the desktop. Go figure.

The only thing I can think is, that the original *.lnk files were all from different versions of Windows, as the data was transferred over from computer to computer over the years, and this is the first time he's attempted to use OneDrive, so that's why the problem showed up now.

Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it.

I seem to remember somewhere that OneDrive will not follow shortcuts or Symlinks but will follow Junctions. In fact I have several folders backed up that way myself. BTW I have my OneDrive Folder on a data drive.

Keith, Now I honestly don't understand why I was having problems. Based on MS's own info, I should be able to simply drag folders into the OneDrive location on the computer, and it should work. Period. But, it really doesn't.

I recently had another situation with a different person: She had a folder on her desktop with 3 excel files in it, which she wanted to put on OneDrive so they could be shared. Dragging the folder on the desktop to her OneDrive folder did not do it. I had to open each excel file, turn auto-save on, then, once they were saved online, I had to go online, create the folder she wanted them in and move the three into it. Meanwhile the duplicate files and folder on her desktop had to be deleted. Very strange indeed.

I have never had good luck with OneDrive, no matter what I am trying to do with it. I've got to believe it's not me. Really, I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid. I don't understand how people use it without issue. I have yet to find it working the first time, the way I want it to work, ever.

Simrick, after reading this post, I decided to try dragging and dropping a folder with one file in it. It went perfectly. So, then I tried dragging and dropping a folder with several graphics and a couple word files. That one also went perfectly.

FWIW, I opened my data drive on Build 18363.628, then opened One Drive. I dragged the folders from the data drive to OneDrive.

I've had it set up from the days it was SkyDrive as you can see from my pic. Don't really use it a great deal. The only thing it's got over Google Backup & Sync is the On Demand feature.
