    Program Wont Visually Uninstall

    Hi All,

It's been a while since I've had a Windows 10 problem and asked for help here. By the way, my Windows 10 is up to date.

My problem is I went to my control panel and uninstalled a program. But after being told that I have successfully uninstalled it, it is still visible on my control panel list as well as as on my start menu.

I have tried uninstalling it a half dozen times now and it always says it has been uninstalled, but it is still visible! Also, I know it has been uninstalled because I tried running it from my start menu but it said that it couldn't. And, there is no size listed on my control panel list. It is just visible.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can delete this visually from control panel and start menu?

    Hi, what is the program?
You can install either Revo Uninstaller or Geek uninstaller (free) e.g.

Reinstall the problem program in the same location. Then run one of the above, find the program in the list shown, and start its uninstallation from there. There will then be an additional scan for 'leftovers' which you can review and permit deletion.

That should work unless there's some other unexpected form of problem e.g. permissions.

    Hi dalchina!

Thank you so much for replying to my question! The program I am trying to uninstall is called Malwarebytes. I've used their free virus scan program every month since before upgrading from XP to Win 10 and it has always uninstalled properly. This month it didn't. Thanks for offering those two other programs to help me uninstall Malwarebytes, but isn't there anything I can do to solve this using something in Windows 10? I mean, if Malwarebytes won't visually uninstall who's to say that these two you suggest won't visually uninstall either?

Hi, you are, of course, free to manually search the registry and files and folders for occurrences of Malwarebytes.

    However, this is not advisable.

Now you've said it is a security program, most security program manufacturers supply a removal tool where uninstalling normally fails. I searched for
    malwarebytes manual uninstall

    for you and found

    https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topi...support-tools/

The tools I mentioned above are designed to provide fuller removal than the author's own uninstaller and are very well known, especially Revo.

Other than for security software, recommended.

There's no such thing as 'visually uninstalling'. That there are remnants visible on the GUI simply means the uninstallation is incomplete, and you have absolutely no clue how much else there may be in files, folders or the registry.

    Hi again dalchina,

I know there is no such thing as "uninstalled visually." I made that term up to enter in the title of this thread, and then proceeded to explain that I had uninstalled Malewarebytes but it was still there visually.

Thanks for the other thread! I will try one of them on Monday when I get back to my desktop, and then let you know if it worked.

    Thanks, Mark

    Hi again dalchina!

Hope you had a good weekend, and thanks for your help! I tried Revo Uninstaller and it worked after a couple of tries. The first time it eliminated the visual remnant of Malwarebytes in my control panel and at the top of my start menu. I later found Malwarebytes also listed alphabetically in my start menu so I did it again and it removed that too! So thank you very much for your help and I will be closing this topic.
