    File encryption software recommendations

Hey all. I'm looking for file encryption software recommendations. Basically I need something to secure my important files on my own device and also on cloud storage. I've been looking at some options and right now I'm trying to choose between NordLocker, VeraCrypt and Cryptomator. It doesn't matter if it's paid or free - I just need some reliable security. Obviously I'm using Windows 10 and my cloud storage is OneDrive. Thank you for your suggestions.

Veracrypt has a good lineage coming from Truecrypt. I used Truecrypt.

    Documentation available.

Open source so nothing to hide.

Look at FAQ, Audit done in 2016, several releases since.

Ditto- Veracyrpt is easy to use and opens encrypted files/partitions very quickly.

The issue that I would have with something like VeraCrypt (which I use), is that since it stores everything in a container file that any changes to things inside the file will change the overall file and how will changes be sent up to the cloud. If it has to upload the entire file every time a single little thing changes in the file, it would be extremely inefficient.

I will be looking into Crytomator. It's quite similar to BoxCryptor which I used in the past for storing encrypted stuff in the cloud.

You can use the built in Bitlocker on your own storage. In addition you can password protect Office documents.

For storage in the cloud, I have used Cryptomator before....it's pretty good.

Is there any reason to not use 7-Zip for encrypting files too?
