I'm waiting for the OP's screenshot in order to consider how to reverse it.
- If it is what you & I think it is, I think we will find a Doxillion / whatever change to the file associations for .doc etc files.
- This might be reversible in Settings, Apps, Default apps, Choose applications by file type or by using a decent equivalent such as NirSoft's FileTypesMan.

Denis, Hopefully that will be forthcoming soon, although my fear is that the changes will be more than just the one for Doxillion, they sell a large amount of software packages and may well add entries for other of their products, even if, like Doxillion in this case, are not even installed
Of course if it's only the Doxillion hijack that is causing the issue for @GarCooper then the simple change either in registry or on the file's Open with ... would solve the problem

I have NCH's WavePad and it has made no attempt to interupt anything other than my context menu [which had unwanted entries as indicated in my posted script].
So I'll await the OP's response with interest.
I can force a Doxillon dialog to appear by selecting Convert file type when right-clicking on .doc and .docx files.I know which Registry entries refer to this but I have not bothered to experiment with solutions because I never right-click on those file types.

I am awaiting the information too - I am a annoyed that this sort of practice is still going on, so would like it to come to a satisfactory conclusion

It's something I thought of too, but would only be needed if the cleanup of the registry was done, and then returned on reboot. If this is the case the scheduled tasks is one of the favorite methods used by Malware for regeneration of their hijacks.
As you did not see such a thing when you sorted your setup, I don't think it's likely but this issue seems to be pretty serious and the developer, it appears, is not above,the use of some dubious methods to install their software

Sorry My Bad, I meant - the changing of the associations and the prompt to install their software to perform a task that is by default associated by others - In my opinion this method to try to persuade a user to install their software, is an unacceptable practice.
The use of a scheduled task to restore this hijack if the user removed it, would take this issue to a new level, as this did not happen to you when you cleaned your system I do not think it will happen, although I have seen it used by other dubious developers (Malware Writers)
