    Groove: Folder with various artists

    I am still new to Windows 10, but i am slowly getting there.

    I am in the process of transfering music from my old HDD to a new one used for Win 10.
    I have a folder with various artist, i.e. different mp3s from different artists - sort of my own "greatest hits". Each MP3 file has it's own cover (picture) - used Mp3Tag to edit tags and add cover. In the old Win7 mediaplayer all of these mp3's were listed under each corresponding artist: let's say that in the folder i have a single song by Prince (When doves cry) and a single song by Bijelo Dugme (Hajdemo u planine), each of those would be listed correctly under the respective artist.

    In Groove all music from my mixed folder are listed as belonging to the same album, and the cover/picture for every single mp3 in that folder is the same.

    Question 1: Can files be organised in Groove without having to "belong" to an album?
    Question 2: If i create a "My Greatest Hits" album for said folder (e.g. in Mp3Tag), can individual MP3's within that folder have different artwork? Or do they all have to have the same "album cover"?

    I'm using Windows Media Player and it works like it used to. For instance:
    Artist--- Prince Album cover
    One song
    3 Min

    I haven't fooled around with Groove for quite some time but, from what I remember, it's terrible with metadata.

    @Jacee:
    I did try mediaplayer and it works just as it did in Windows 7. If i can't get Groove to work i'll just use mediaplayer.

    @Edwin:
    Oh, man. Before i posted my question here, i searched the internet on problems with Groove... there is enough reading material to keep me occupied for the next couple of months!

    However, i did find a possible solution:

    - - - Updated - - -

    Problem:
    I have a folder in my music folder/library called "Mixed" containing tracks by various artists. In my case, these (mp3) files only contained "Artist", "Title" and "Cover" (atypically a jpeg of the artist or something - not necessarily the correct album cover) in the id3v2.3 tag.
    When Groove is started for the first time it searched my music folder and all tracks in the "mixed" folder were placed in the same "Album" and the top most track cover was used as a cover for all tracks in that "Album".

    My Solution:
    Using Mp3Tag i editted the tags of all tracks in the "mixed" folder to contain the Album name "Mixed" (selected all files and in the left pane in the field "Album" i wrote "Mixed")
    Next i changed the "Album artist" for all the tracks (this field was previously blank) to have the name of the artist. I did this in Mp3Tag by creating an action: Click action in the menu line > Action (Alt+6) > In the pop-up window click new and give the action a name (e.g. "Artist to Album artist") . In the next window click new again and from the drop-down menu choose "Format value" > OK. In the next window on the Field drop down menu (top one) choose "ALBUMARTIST" and in the bottom "Format string" write %Artist%, and hit OK.
    Close all open Mp3tag windows except Mp3tag itself, select the files you want to change the Album artist name for, go to actions > put a checkmark in the newly created action (Artist to album artist) and then OK. Remeber to save.

    Back to Groove: Before opening i reset Groove: Settings > Apps > Groove > Reset
    Then i opened Groove and it started importing the tracks. All tracks from the mixed folder are shown separately with each their correct cover. Album name "Mixed" on top and correct artist name below.

    I use Tagscanner to check all the metadata including artwork. I also use MP3Test to quickly check and test for MP3 file errors and MP3Diags for more complex checks.

    But not work right? All Meta isn't readable when the song added to Music Library.. This's really frustating.. since 2017 til now, no fix...
