Problem Uninstalling Printer Software  

Hi,

When Scanning to computer (JPEG Image) my image is being split and apparently the fix is to open the Printer software and change an advanced setting to turn off auto-crop. It's an HP envy 5530 Printer.

I can't seem to get into the HP Printer assistant without reconnecting the printer via the 'connect a new printer' option on the wizard, but that is failing each time.

So the guidance from there is seems to be that I have to Uninstall my printer software and reinstall it. but that's failing as well, I get the following message;





Would be grateful if anyone could offer some idiot-proof advice from here.

Are you logged in with a user account that has admin access to the system or just a non-administrative user? It sounds like you need to be logged on with an admin level user.

It is an admin account.

A few days back I ran into the same problem.

( That problem was self-created. For some obscure reason, I stopped uninstall by Revo Uninstaller midway - to err is human - and thereafter I couldn't uninstall the printer driver from Programs and Features . Got the same error message. I think you also would have mucked up the printer driver in someway or it got corrupted in some way. )

I then used the "Forced Uninstall" feature of Revo Uninstaller Pro" to get rid of it. . ( I have a valid registered version of Revo Uninstaller Pro which costs USD25). The "Forced Uninstall" feature is not available in Revo Uninstaller Free version)

I do not know whether there is a free software that could do such a forced uninstall.

1. You may try the Uninstall in CCleaner Free.

2. If that doesn't help raise a query in HP Support Forum. They seem to have some Driver Removal Tool/Driver Cleaning Tool. They may perhaps be able to guide you whether that will work in your case.

If both these don't help, then only consider buying Revo Uninstaller Pro version.

One more point: If you have a System Restore point prior to this incident, try restoring to it.

Thank you for your detailed response.

I tried ccleaner free but unfortunately same result.

Am reluctant to pay the USD25 as is half the cost of the printer.

So I will try HP to see if they have such a tool, that would be good. They had a troublehoot wizard but no success on any steps and at the end just referred me to MIcrosoft, (who the refrred me back to HP). Ping-pong!

I don't know if I have a system restore as I'm not sure which point the incident ocurred.

Anyway, thanks very much for the advice.

Thank you for the link.

The first step produced the same result as OP.

I followed all the other steps but no success.

(Apart from the last solution which involved regedit as there was no clear instructions and it's beyond my ken!)
