    Future proof with uwp?

I'm the founder of an investment company. Recently, I started having an idea for a LOB app that eventually I want to publish to the wild.

A quick search shows that a lot of developers hate uwp with a passion. Some vowing to rather cut off their arms and eat their dogs before touching uwp. Ok, it's an exaggeration, but you get the point.

Stick with wpf or go for uwp? Is there a chance of MS killing off uwp the way they killed off windows phone?

Sorry if these questions are obvious. I've been out of the game for years while I built up my company. I've a background in programming.

Neither. You should go for PWA (Progressive Web Application, Wikipedia).

Start by reading this Microsoft Docs article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mic...ndows-features

Additional reading, unfortunately behind a paywall: Yes, PWA Will Kill UWP. It's OK (Premium) - Thurrott.com

I'm sorry, but I'm looking to create a native app. I've worked in many organizations, big and small. And every time I had to use pwa's, it was always a pain in the rear. I have yet to come across one that is friendly to the intended purpose of what I want.

Also, most uses will be on devices by our people out in the field. PWAs are not very friendly to offline usage.

MS will never kill off UWP - they have recognised that developers dislike it in its 'native' form, so they are extending it to Win32 - such as with Desktop bridge and XAML Islands. I'm sticking with WPF for now.
