I already have a theme installed. I'm on v1.4.1. How can I update to the latest foobar2000 without losing my theme? My them was pretty tedious to install and I'd hate to have to do it all over again.
it should be fine.. but do a backup of those folders first just in case...
program folder and settings folders.. like in the AppData Roaming folder...

I installed Fobar2000 in the root directory of C:\Foobar2000\ and store all everything in that one folder... I have a cmd batch file I use with WinRAR to backup everything related to Foobar2000...

I use a unique theme setup too blue and green ish background for the main window of the track list. and it has always survived updating...

Any chance you could post that batch file or PM me the code in a code block if it won't let you attach it?

Also, is it possible to have two installations of Foobar2000 on your PC? I'd like one for regular use and one to set up so I can see all ripped tracks just to see if all of the fields were properly ripped, which in all cases, they're missing some data.

sure I can post the code... give me a sec...
you will need to edit the code to point to your foobar2000 location..

    Fb2k_m.BackupToArchive.cmd
    Code:
:: A Quick way to backup my whole Foobar 2000 Install,
:: especially my Playlists and configuration files

    "%ProgramFiles%"\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe a -rr50p -- "zzFoobar2000 (v1.6.2x)_Backup_ProgramFiles&PlayLists_(Win10)(x64).rar" "C:\Foobar2000"

btw I launch this backup batch file from my installer backup folder where I store copies of all my Foobar2000 stuff...
    exe(s), backups, components files, etc..

    :: pause
zip file containing the cmd batch file
    Fb2k_m.BackupToArchive_JOSHSKORN.cmd.zip

please edit the name of the save/backup file in the cmd file to your taste or needs...
and point to the location of your foobar2000 folder and if you don't store it all in one location like I do u will need to copy and paste the cmd and add the location of your profile folder like if it is store in the AppData roaming folder...

AS far as I know you cannot have two installs of Foobar2000..

I thought I'd risk it. First of all, I went ahead and downloaded the new Foobar (v1.6.2), clicked the Update button and it worked. I then re-ran the installation with a USB Flash Drive plugged in, and installed a portable version of foobar2000 to it.

I'm now fiddling with my new portable install and I got the visual layout the way I want it. The problem is, is that when I look at the properties of something I click on, it's only looking at the properties of which that particular track points to. Not what I want. On my regular install of Foobar2000, I have DarkOne v4.0 installed and it has basically 3 different boxes you can choose from: Genre, Artist and Album. When I right-click on Album, it shows me the album's properties. With my new foobar2000 portable install, it keeps giving me the properties of the actual track, only. What I want, is to be able to see the Album's properties and change that, accordingly (like, total tracks, date and so forth). I've tried putting in a left-to-right splitter, basically so that each field is contained in its own splitter, that didn't work. Any ideas? I was messing around with the scratchbox and couldn't figure it out.

    DeskBand Controls

A plugin to put your FB2K controls in the taskbar is foobar2000 Deskband Controls plugin. It is intense like foobar and works well with you when you're trying to get something done efficiently in this multitasking world.

It's build into the installer, look for it. Note that portable FB2K does NOT integrate within Windows Shell.
