Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 on a Windows 10 computer

I tried to install an (old) software on my computer and got the message: "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 was not found on your system. It is required in order to complete the installation. You can download and install the required version of .NET by visiting
    microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7displaylang=en"

I followed the link but got a 404 error. I found a download site at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...ils.aspx?id=22. However I'm concerned as to whether the 3.5 version can coexist peacefully with the presumably later version I have on my Windows 10 v. 6.1 computer. Any advice? Thanks.
