Corel Paintshop Photo 13 - wont start - W10 Upgrade

I just upgraded a Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool. All went well but there are a few glitches as to be expected.

One is that her copy of Corel Paintshop Photo Pro13 will not start. Clicking on the desktop shortcut or going directly to the program exe results in the same: nothing. No error message, no visible activity.

I tried changing the Compatibility to Windows 7 - no change.

Looks like a reinstall is necessary, but I'm checking to see if anyone here has run into this, or similar, and has a solution.

I've had problems like the one you describe, you click on something and nothing starts and no error messages.

I usually find a "Ghost" process running in task manager for the app which I kill and then the app starts normally. So I would look for things called Paintshop in the task manager either under apps or background processes.

If this turns out to be the case, and since you've done many a restart, I would check the Task manager Startup tab to see if Corel Paintshop Photo is kicking off a process at start.

    Good idea.
I checked and there are no processes or services that stand out. And nothing in Startup, even though Corel usually has something in there that I usually disable.

Try to uninstall and reinstall Corel only. Not gonna work. As reported in MS forums, one user said it was succesfull with:
    Link to the patches:

Run patches as admin (right click ...)
Download the 5 patches from Corel's FTP site

Run DXSETUP.exe in the CDS\RunTime\DXNov2007 folder

Run the PSPP installation - do not launch the program yet

Install patch one through 5 in order

    Open PSPP x3

Provided the OP has that version.

@TV2, What is the exact name and version of that program cause "Corel Paintshop Photo Pro13" isn't registering in Google? Is it in-fact X3.

Yeah, sorry - it is Corel Paintshop Photo Pro X3 - which is version 13, and I'm crotchety an refuse to do the X game!

I have all 5 of the patches on disk that were made for X3. I will run those and let you know what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.

Follow the instructions. You should uninstall, run installer, run patches before you run the program etc,

    AndreTen is da man!

However, I did not follow the instructions....
I just installed the 5 patches, one right after the other, and Paintshop fired right up. No need to uninstall and reinstall the whole program.
