    Microsoft Store vs Internet Apps

Hi all, just wondering. I see that the MS Store has a lot of the same programs that I can download from the internet. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to getting the programs from the store or the internet? Thanks in advance.

In my eyes some store apps are just half-cooked apps. I prefer the standalone ones.

    Hear hear
I too find that most of the crap in the Windows Store just puts something dodgy onto your machine. The internet now is so overloaded with junk and needs to be removed.
What happened to the old school way of doing things? I hate the modern computer world now where we have this full on wave of modern IT 'im a graphic designer' oh very posh type of money making advertisment system going on, and i wish it would all stop. You didnt see this 20 years ago.
Shame how its all turned out.

Depends a lot on what it is, some things in MS Store are actually Desktop applications.

The MS store versions (UWP) are usually much more basic versions of the Desktop version. e.g. VLC Player, Scan.

The MS Store Apps or rather UWP programs that are used here are:
Windows 10 settings, Mail App, Calculator, Edge Browser, Weather, WiFi Analyzer, Diagnostic Data Viewer, various Streaming radio services.
Some of those being in constant use for over 5 years.

    Hi there
IMO usually the Internet apps are better -- although I don't use it - as a Media server for example PLEX is far better downloaded and installed from the Internet -- the app on the Ms store site is horribly crippled etc.

However in all these things :

"You Pays your money and takes your Choice".

I never liked these "Store things" anyway --I think that whole nonsense was started by Apple and then followed by Ms in Windows 8 when they thought let's have an OS that makes all computers look like they are running from a Mobile phone.

BTW and a bit OT here -but PLEASE broadcasters when showing Mobile phone footage can't you PLEASE display in LANDSCAPE Mode instead of PORTRAIT mode -- it looks really stupid seeing a tiny thin sliver of footage on a 50 inch screen.

    Cheers
