WinRAR 5.71 messes up .ZIP password with Windows Explorer

    Hi everyone:

This is so annoying. I just spent a good deal of time creating & uploading password protected .ZIP files using WinRAR 5.71. (I need to send them to my friend through a cloud account. They are fairly large.)

Well, I just received an email reply from my friend that says that he can't open them This is the error message that he gets on his Windows 10:

I just tried it and sure enough I can't open them on my Win 10 v.1903 either.

Now, if I .ZIP them using WinRar 5.21 on my other Win10, using the same password, everything works fine.

    What is going on there?

PS. I'm so pissed that I trusted it and uploaded everything without having checked first.

Try 5.71 again on one file and see what happens. If it still fails contact WinZip or at a minimum post in their forum.
