    Spotify: how to remove it from startup task?

    Spotify: how to remove it from startup task?

    It's come to my attention that a suspicious sounding piece of software has somehow made its way to the list of startup tasks. I've looked at the usual registry locations as well as the task scheduler, but failed to find any trace of the culprit. Can anyone kindly advise what other locations can store a start up task in Windows 10?

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Hi, you can try Autoruns (free from MS). Then use its search feature to search through all the registry-based and Startup folder startups.

    Taskschedulerview by Nirsoft gives you a linear searchable list of tasks.

    Could be it's launched by something under another name somehow..

    Go to the All programs list right click the Spotify App > Uninstall.

    Go to Advanced Settings in the Spotify app and turn off the auto start option.

    It's actually not running on your startup, if you look to the right it says disabled.

    Spotify is a streaming music service. Nothing sketchy about it. Disabled Service means that. It is not running at that time due to either you have disabled the service or it was not fully installed/uninstalled.

    Thanks for all the kind replies.
    Startup tasks are usually listed under the one of the registry "Run" keys, and can be easily removed from the startup list. However, this sneaky little program is a bit more clever and is nowhere to be found. Does anyone know where it can hide itself?

    Do as dalchina suggested and get a copy of Autoruns.

    Spotify: how to remove it from startup task?

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...loads/autoruns

    It comes in a zip package, unzip it to a folder, it's free standing and doesn't get installed. Run the Autoruns (not autorunsc) as Administrator. In the "filter" box up top, type spotify It will display any and all info about it, including startup and any services. Take it from there.

    @goopy

    If you're trying to remove it from being seen on the Start Up list altogether, disabled or not, see post #8. Find the entry and un-check it. It won't remove anything from your computer, just hide it from Start Up. This is different than the App option to start or not.
