I'm sorry how does "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" differ from "HKEY_CURRENT_USER"?
    Where I looked (copy-pasta)
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    vs you wrote (again, copy-pasta)
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

And I did replace username - I'm not *that* beginner. :)

I fixed this by uninstalling Spotify. I don't like such poorly designed software.

The part in red is where you looked.

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

The part in green is where I suggested that you should look.

Clearly shown in the screenshots here:

Spotify: how to remove it from startup task?

    Computer\HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1287570235-3662419370-3799898970-1001\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

In addition reinstalling the application then uninstalling it after exiting any running Spotify processes or services should remove it.

I see, it wasn't clear to me, sorry mate.
Anywhoo; the branch of "SOFTWARE" simply does not exist under 'HKEY_USERS'
    Maybe you meant under "HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT"?
    That's also empty, mind.

Steve C: the program is not installed, it was never installed, so I can't uninstall it.
As I stated I do not plan to install it.

At this point I'll put up with a disabled & orphaned entry, thanks, it's annoying but I simply don't want to waste this amount of time on it (I did some research on it beforehand, yes, so I'm into this now 1hr+ more than I care to spend)
