I don’t think Spotify support would know where a startup entry in task manager would be located lol and how to delete it without uninstalling the app !
Why not since Spotify AB are responsible for the app according to the MS Store?

Gee, just run into this one myself - is there really no way to remove a startup entry that is not an existing/installed program?

i.e. I've got the spotify thing sitting there, even though I've never used this garbage, nor I intend to.

================ Ultra Virus Killer Scan Log File ================

    Startup entries:

Format: Mode | Name | Destination file | Description | MD5 hash | File signature

    <@Chris\Run> | Spotify | C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spotify.exe | Spotify | 51716DC2433BEE0465B267B7C74269CA | Signed : Spotify AB

======================= End of the startup entries list. ========================

Deleted the autorun entry (not the file) and it's gone.

Just to clarify - delete the entry and leave the file.

Note: Deleting the Autorun entry broke the Spotify uninstall command.

    Solution:

Delete C:\Users\Usernam\AppData\Roaming\Spotify folder then reinstall Spotify.

The uninstaller will then run correctly.

    Thanks but...

    1) I've no spotify entry in the registry at
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    2) I've no such folder:
    C:\Users\Usernam\AppData\Roaming\Spotify folder

I've never had this program installed, and I don't want it to be, either.

So it's quite baffling what the hell it's doing in the startup items - an orphaned entry is what it looks like. But how do you delete it when the delete is grayed out by windows in its infinite wisdom?

    Expand:

You're looking in the wrong place.
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    Also the folder path.

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Spotify

Replace Username with your user name.
