32bit software no longer runs on Windows 10

    Version 1903 (OS Build 18362. 418)

I had been running Cool Edit Pro on this machine but it doesn't now.

It was re-installed after a system reset.

How can I overcome this and get it running again?

I have several other 32 bit programs which work ok.

Right click on the exe file and try compatible modes

Try Samuria's idea first, if still no-go, consider a Virtual Machine of a 32bit Windows, keep your license handy, you might need it.

Keep in mind, though, that in order to run a 32-bit Windows in a virtual machine with 64-bit Windows host, you need two separate licenses for Windows.

I've noticed the same thing.....the only 32 bit software that I can get to run is MS Office. Any other 32 bit software will not run any more. Why?

Cool Edit Pro has been retired and is now Audio Audition by Adobe.

Cool Edit Pro is now Adobe Audition

I wouldn't put it past Adobe to push MS to do that.

I have Cool Edit 2000 (not Pro) and it still works fine for me. *knocks furiously on wood*

All my 32 bit software works in v1903. Run the .exe file from and admin account as an administrator with compatibility settings for the OS it was originally designed for.

This may help you (last post) https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...91eeea3?page=2

Consider using Audacity (free) if you can't get your software to work.

It's now working again. I've no idea how or why.

And, I do know the program's history. There was initially a free version with a few limitations, (but there was a way around that) and there was the paid version, which cost around $60. And then Adobe got its greedy corporate fingers on it.

Audacity is useful but it's nowhere as good as Cool Edit.
