Can I index a folder quickly in Windows 10?

I noticed that indexing takes a long time. I wonder if there's a way to quickly index a folder quickly, such as if you notice that it's not correctly indexed (searches doesn't give expected results in File Explorer).

Hi, how long depends on a number of factors.
    E.g.
    a. How busy is your PC? Indexing backs off (stops) if your PC is slightly busy.
    b. How many files are there in the folder
    c. Is content being indexed in most files

If there is any sort of corruption (think chkdsk e.g.) in the folder- this can cause significant problems.

    Normally shouldn't be that long..

Without more data, the question becomes akin to 'how long is a piece of string'...

As to search results being not as expected, again, data is needed.

What are you searching? What search syntax are you using? Partial definition:

Does the search index troubleshooter report any problems?

    Antonio,

Part of the reason indexing can take a long time is that it pauses during any user activity.

You can stop it pausing using the procedure in Enable or Disable Indexer Backoff - TenForumsTutorials

Note you can monitor progress by watching the number of items indexed in Indexing Options...

so the answer is "no". I thought that excluding then adding again a folder may do this, but that isn't the case apparently. Thanks for your answers

If you're asking 'is there an accelerator pedal to use for indexing?' - the answer is 'no' except as indicated by @Try3.

The quickest way to deal with this (file name only) is to use a free 3rd party tool such as
    Locate32
    Everything by void tools
    Ultrasearch

    etc

    Hello Antonio,

You could disable the indexer backoff to allow indexing to finish faster.

Enable or Disable Indexer Backoff in Windows

However, if you always want accurate search results, I would recommend to disable search indexing. It will take a bit longer to get search results without indexing, but they will always be accurate.

Enable or Disable Search Indexing in Windows
