When I logged back into my system after applying some updates, Skype 8.52 install asked to run, so I said OK. It ran to completion and then ran again, and again, etc ... I told it NO after a few times round that loop.

Does anyone know how to stop that silliness?

I downloaded Skype 8.53 from skype.com and installed that - it appears to have solved the problem.
