Your Phone app not working

Yah...I noticed the same thing on my iphone......it was literally draining my battery in 4 hours. I just decided to unlink it. I also had to go to my MS account web-page and remove it from there as well.

After a miserable time trying to get it done, I finally got my Your Phone app on my desktop linked to my phone.

Then, I had to do a Macrium restore, and I'm back to square one.

To complicate things, I just upgraded my Galaxy s8 to Galaxy s10e.

I went to the microsoft site and unlinked both phones, and tried to relink the new one, but I'm in a loop where it wants me to install Your Phone Companion, which I already have. Your Phone Companion cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled. There is no interface for Your Phone Companion on my phone.

The last time i got it done, the desktop app interface had a drop down men that allowed to choose either phone. This time, it only has the old one, even after I removed it from my microsoft account. I unlinked it there and then tried to link the new phone, but again, it wants me to install the "app we texted you" on the phone, and the sign in. The Your Phone app dosen't even appear in the apps pages. You can only find it thru the phone settings.

But there is no way to sign in. There is no place to sign in. Is there somewhere I'm supposed to sign in? I already have a microsoft account on my phone.

Perhaps this may be of help clearing up some confusion.

If you do a search for "Your Phone" via the Windows 10 start menu, the result takes you to the "Your Phone" app page, which gives you the options to connect/sync your computer to your phone. It is the settings on that page that I have struggled with, because they lead you nowhere, with no way to complete the process. At least, that is my experience.

But there is another choice in that also shows up farther down in the start menu "Your Phone" the search results called "Link your phone". It takes you to a different settings page titled "Your Phone", but gives you options not found on the Your Phone "app" page, including the ability to add a device, and most importantly, "unlink" your phone. This is the crucial step, which will lead you to the next step of re-linking your phone on your computer. You will come across a popup that displays a QR code (you will be asked to scan this QR code in a further step), and you will be asked to install the the Your Phone app on your phone (even if it is already installed), upon which it will then offer you to confirm the process by either scanning the QR code, or signing into Microsoft.

For me, for whatever reason, scanning the QR code did not work, but signing into Microsoft did complete the process.

I do not see Link you phone, only Your Phone. I'm running Win 10 Pro X64 1909 18363.628.
I've also tried searching for Link your phone but find nothing. My phone is a Moto G4.

You'll notice they are both titled "Your Phone". Does that sound like a good idea?

FWIW, it shows 2 phones. They are actually the same phone. Just another weird aspect of this scattered, unaddressed confusion.

I'll bet a lot of users think this is sync related failure. I suppose in some cases there could be some truth to that. But sifting thru all different ways I tried to unsuccessfully get it done, I believe in my case this whole thing revolves around the lack of good and thoughtful instructions coherently explaining the full process in detail, in simple language and linking/meshing these two settings locations.

Maybe there's a different way I haven't discovered of getting this accomplished, but for me the operation of the "Your Phone App" seems to be inextricably dependent on the "Your Phone Settings" page options.

Ztruker's point is the app is called "Your Phone" not "Link your phone" But I also get the point you're making as well.
