    Cortana broken

    Hey Guys and Gals,

I have a windows 10 pro system and about 2 weeks ago sfc /scannow found corruption and could not fix it.

I then ran multiple Dism commands and DISM fixed the corruption.

But now Cortana is being dumb and stops letting me type searches and displays black when I press Windows key.

But I found a temp fix for when it happens multiple times a day.
I simply end process for Cortana and then it starts working again for awhile.
Then it stops later and I repeat ending process and then it works again.

Is there a way to fix Cortana?
The Trouble shoot store apps and hanging says issue not fixed.

My OS is pretty a fresh clean install only a month or two old.

So is there a way to reset Cortana or Reinstall it without effecting my programs and/or apps?
I found some posts on this forum but wanted to be sure of the steps and if fix is the same for Windows 10 Pro retail as I have only had 10 PRo for a month or two.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance
    Fred

Cortona and Search are separate now. Press Windows S to do a search.

    Hello,

    Thanks for fast reply.
Tried what you said and it does not work search screen is blank.
I tried ending process for Cortana and then I was able to search your way and from start menu.

    Thanks
    Fred

    Hey Guys,

Just an update I reinstalled Cortana and problem still exists with it and the search feature.
As I wrote even Win + s does not work unless I end Cortana process. Then it restarts cortana and it works for awhile before having same issue later.

Any other suggestions not counting doing a fresh install?

    Thanks in advance
    Fred
