Using a USB Camera with Camera app in Windows 10

I have a USB camera that is working in Skype and Zoom, but when I open the Camera App, I do not see a way to switch to that camera. I have checked in settings.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Helps to know the device info of the camera, if this is a built in device or added in (Built in cameras can show as USB devices).

I am using an IPEVO V4K camera via USB port on a Lenovo B40 Laptop running Windows 10.

Just used the camera app for the first time and it automatically worked with my webcam, a generic 1080p unit, without any input from me

From your description I am assuming your camera is a 4K unit, this may be an issue with the Camera app not the camera, not sure what resolution the app works with - obviously it works with 1080p so you could try setting your camera to this and see if it helps

I had the same question and just figured it out.

In the top right corner of the Camera application, there's an icon with a camera and arrow going around it - on your phone, it's the icon to use the camera on the rear of the device. If you mouse over the icon, it's called "Change camera" and that's just what it does. I clicked it and it switched to my USB camera.

Hope that helps anyone else like me who ignored that button because there's no camera on the rear of their computers.
