    Microsoft News app crashes

Hello, I'm having this problem: Microsoft news app crashes whenever I open it. Tried resetting it, running Microsoft store troubleshooter, even uninstalled it, but no help. Before that I ran this program because I was facing far worse problem: Tweaking.com – Windows Repair.

Hi, if you are experiencing multiple problems I suggest you
    - check your disk and file system (e.g. HD Tune, chkdsk)
    - perform an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data
For this you will need an iso of the same build as your installed OS (freely downloadable).Otherwise- do you have a recent disk image you created you could restore? tenforums repeatedly advises users to use diskimaging routinely e.g. Macrium Reflect (free/paid).

However, if your problem is related to one app only, please confirm you have tried this:
Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10
    - search for News, note the command line, then follow the instructions at the top of the section.

If you still have a problem with this app, please create a new user for test purposes, log in as that user, and advise whether News works.

I wasn't using backups, but now I regret, because if I were using backups, I wouldn't have problems I'm facing now. (I had to reformat and do fresh install of Windows due to some problems before this problem). Today, I installed free program called "Paragon" for backups and will be doing backups from now with that software.

Tried to re-register all apps yesterday. I don't remember if news app was currently running and giving errors, but I was getting errors. I'm at work now and connected to my PC via AnyDesk, did that re-registering specifically that News app and this is what we got:

What does it mean and can we do something more about it?

I will save that new user creation of Windows for the last step.

P.S. Our flags look a bit similar :)

Hi, I've visited Georgia- spent about 2 weeks there, first in Tbilisi + excursions, then onwards to Uzbekistan- enjoyable.

You used a Powershell box. Did you check the instructions at the top of the section?

    - search for News, note the command line, then follow the instructions at the top of the section.

I don't understand what you exactly mean with instructions at the top of the section, but what I did, went to Microsoft app store, installed news app, tried again to launch it, it didn't launch, then I opened powershell as an administrator, pasted code for news and hit enter. It gave me that red text.

    Oh, very nice.

    Command line:
    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *BingNews*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

Instructions from top of the section in which that appeared (= read tutorial and follow instructions):
To Reinstall and Re-register Specific App for Current Account

If a Windows app is already installed, then you will see a red error message in PowerShell letting you know for each one.

If you uninstalled an app for all user accounts, then this will not reinstall the app.

If you are not able to reinstall your app, then you will need to install your app from the Microsoft Store instead.
    1. Open a command prompt.

    2. Copy and paste the command below for the Windows app you want to reset into the command prompt, and press Enter. When finished, you can close the command prompt if you like.

Yes, I did those things and so far no luck. Will try creating new user when I come home and see if it fixes this problem.

    You said you opened Powershell.

The instructions are to use a Command Prompt.

Yes, but I also said that I pasted code for news (PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *BingNews*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}") and hit enter, like I showed in screenshot, which means it executed command. As far as I understand powershell is like cmd, you put commands and hit enter, right? Or something else is needed?

Open a command prompt as it says, then paste that command string. You need to follow the instructions.

To use Powershell you have to modify the command string.
