I've been happy using Classic Start / Shell on all my PCs. However, recently I noticed logins on my 5 year old Dell laptop were taking 10 secs - see Slow Login Troubleshooting.

I've reduced the login delay to an acceptable 4 secs by disabling the option "Pre-cache icons" in Classic Shell / General Behaviour. Has anyone had this issue or can explain why disabling such a cache makes login faster?
I've never had any lag with Classic Shell, except when doing a system stress test and that 2 seconds was understandable.

Do you see the same problem with Open Shell?

I don't have this problem or any other with the latest OpenShell and the latest build of Windows 10

Windows 10 thinks Classic Shell is just fine.

Does anyone know how to contact the author/programmer/owner of OpenShell? I would like to ask if there are any final releases planned in the near future. The Development versions have been updated but a final has not been released in quite some time. Thanks!

Every beta for me has been stable but you're right it's better to have a new Final version

Maybe if you're signed into Github you can contact them? People . Open-Shell . GitHub

There was a new version released today and it works great. The Boot time is really fast

GitHub - Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu: Reborn of Classic Shell.

    Download Open-Shell (Formerly Classic-Start) - MajorGeeks

    Open Shell 4.4.142
