windows apps - 40 GB, multiple files, cannot delete

    Hi,

I have a PC with more than 40 GB of windows apps folders with random names (multiple instances of DisneyMagiKingoms.... Marchofempires , etc).

These games are not installed. Cannot be uninstalled from Programs and Apps - do not appear there.
Cannot be deleted - even with taking over ownership, etc.

Attached is a snip from spacesniffer... My 100 GB on C are all full, but I cannot get rid of these 40GB of fantom games..

    thx in advance
    Peter

These are Store apps, so will not appear in a list of programs which you download from a site and install manually.

Are they listed in your Start Menu? If so, uninstall them from there.

And if not, are they apps you have at some point installed from the Store?

Am sorry, but some of the posts completely miss what I have written.

The apps are NOT listed in the apps list or store, so cannot be removed by the traditional way.
They do not appear in the Powershell apps list either.

This PC has 3 users, which might have installed the apps at some point in the past , but these apps are currently uninstalled from all users.

There was a torrent client at some point, but non at the moment.

    HOWEVER, the life-saver app was Q-dir ! !
Thanks a lot to user Callender, post #5. This app did the trick in 1 minute, for something that I have been trying to resolve for hours.

Glad you solved it. And if you are referring to my post, I did not miss the point.

I asked about the Start Menu. You never made any comment about that.

Nor did you respond to my question as to whether you had ever installed these via the Store.

Assuming these were at some time things you had installed, what is your opinion as to how you ended up with so much left over?

If I may butt in ...
    This is good info. Thanks.

I have a similar pile of crap-apps on my computer. I guess they came with the box when new? Or got pushed in the rash of updates?
Anyway ... what is the point of all this garbage?

    These sound **SO** useful:

    F46D4000-FD22-4DB4-AC8E-4E1DDDE828FE

Why are there ten versions of this:
    Microsoft.NET.Native.Framework

    And twelve versions of this:
    Microsoft.NET.Native.Runtime

    And four versions of this:
    Microsoft.UI.Xaml

    And five versions of this:
    Microsoft.VCLibs

Who is Microsoft kidding with this batch of garbage:
    Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge .... Dead on arrival
    Microsoft.MicrosoftEdgeDevToolsClient .... Likewise
    Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes .... The wondrous app of 1995!
    Microsoft.MSPaint .... They're kidding, right?
    Microsoft.YourPhone
    Microsoft.ZuneMusic .... Didn't Zune die around 15 years ago?
    Microsoft.ZuneVideo

I do not own an Xbox. So what are these here for?
    Microsoft.XboxApp
    Microsoft.XboxGameCallableUI
    Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay
    Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay
    Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider
    Microsoft.XboxSpeechToTextOverlay
    Microsoft.Xbox.TCUI

Oh joy! Two of these. Just what I need:
    Microsoft.Advertising.Xaml
    Microsoft.Advertising.Xaml

    Spyware, no doubt:
    Microsoft.BioEnrollment

And perhaps the source of all this junk:
Microsoft.WindowsStore .... Now that I have your tutorial this will be the first to go.

    And 55 more ...

Yeah, I did not specifically said they are not in the start menu, but they were nowhere to be found.. not in Start menu, not in add/remove apps, Not in power shell -> packages,.
As I have said, some user might have installed and uninstalled them from store or otherwise in some point of time, but I cannot check that as these employees are no longer here.

However you bring up the one question that was teasing me.. How did this PC end up with so many instances of these folders.. and I did not pay very close attentnion when deleting them, but I think some were quite recent.

I will keep a close eye in the next couple of weeks to see if something reappears.

    Thanks

Indeed, but I think it would be a good idea to first try and deinstall them through the powershell. I have the above mentioned microsoft bloatware and I did uninstall them and they were then gone.
