This file does not have an app associated with it

The early August update (at least that is when it f*cked my machine) changed a lot of stuff Is use regularly. The worst problem for me is that the .PAR2 files have a different icon then before which prevents using the .PAR2 files from doing there checking of the down loaded files. The error message is: This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. I have no idea how to reinstall the correct icor or where to find that icon.

Nothing has worked so far. Has anyone else had this happen?

So do you have Parchive installed? That's what the .par2 file extension was supposedly created by and would logically be opened by after you download it? Did you do as Samurai said and from File Explorer right click on the file, select Open with and set it to Parchive? If not, try uninstalling and reinstalling Parchive.

That's great, glad to hear it. Berton had the link that described what the file was and what program likely created it.

At the site you referred I was able to get a stand alone version, which is great. I now that I have a standalone version I was able to fix files that were missing some files.
