Windows 7 user needs a Media Center Replacement.

I have 2 machines with 2 TV Tuners running Windows 7 Ultimate for the media center. I have looked at the possibility of going to 8.1 Pro and using some Media Center keys I have but feel my best bet is to run Windows 10 with a local account with a version of Power DVD that plays DVDs and Blu Rays and I can also stream stuff from a browser. What I need are some recommendations for a program that will record TV from the over the air stations and play them back with a 10 foot screen resolution. The program does not have to be free, I don't mind paying for the listings etc or the developers time. I just want it to work. I have a machine that runs 10 from time to time with all the apps removed so I don't want anything to do with MS store unless something is outstanding. These machines are for playing media via browsers and Power DVD and also the TV software for the odd program I like to record for later. I need to get this done by Jan 20th 2020.
    Thanks in advance
    Tony

I assume you have a TV tuner in it. I would start with making sure it works with 10. Many of the old ones won't.

DVBViewer is also very good but I have no idea what the implications of your ten foot screen are. Perhaps you can ask the developers.

I saw the comment about older TV tuners not working with Windows 10.
All my old USB2 TV tuners work in my older Windows 10 computers [which have only USB2 connections]
    but
they do not work in my newer Windows 10 computers, they crash the TV application [the newer computers have both USB2 & USB3 connections].
My newer USB3 TV tuners work in all my Windows 10 computers.

10 foot screen refers to the distance away from the TV that the screen can be read clearly. This is what WMC has.

As for software to work with anything, The best I know of is VLC, I know that it will play local media, Network media, CD's etc It can also stream over the Network and from the network, including the Net, It can also interface with TV Tuners. Also it has skinning options so the interface may be adapted to what you need, I think there is even a Media Centre skin

    VLC

It also runs on most platforms, so even if you end up on Linux or a MAC you should still be good to go

As a long time fan of WMC (for live and recorded TV), when I switched to Windows 10 I went down the 'hack' route to install WMC on 10. Although it worked initially, every 6 month upgrade broke WMC. The forums were full of fixes eg replace dlls and other tweaks, but this had to be done every 6 months - and got harder every time.

Eventually, this 6 month hassle got too much and I road-tested half a dozen WMC alternatives, eventually settling on Next PVR. I can only vouch for UK use, but NPVR works fine for me for watching and recording live TV (SD and HD) using a TBS 6205 quad tuner. It saves ts files. NPVR picks up 1 week of EPG automatically. I've also started using NPVR to watch movies on my HDD.

My old Windows 7 remote no longer works, so I use a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard that has a trackpad.
