    IS 123DVD gone ?

had to re-install it. now it won't use/ install MakeMKV (acts like it's not there). so CSS will block recording.
and there's no response from 123DVD support. which is also cut-back - no Chat, no Tickets.

i'd seen the discussion around Slysoft (Slyfox) being stopped a while back and thought someone here might know more about 123DVD than i do.

It certainly had been: Sad news --Slysoft (AnyDVD forced to shut down)

And what "type of software" is that ? Do you mean software that can be used either legally or illegally ?
Doesn't that include an awful lot of software ??

    Hi there
It's still continued on Redfox site !!! Google for it.

There's IMO is absolutely NOTHING WRONG whatever the legal guys say for me to digitize a DVD that I legally PAID FOR and store it on my NAS so I can play it anywhere I want to -- would you buy a book if it stipulated this book can only be read in bed or some other nonsensical thing like that.

The whole regionalisation thing is bonkers too -- if I'm travelling to USA and buy a DVD why shouldn't I play it on my laptop when I'm back home -- mind you who actually buys DVD's any more -- however people might want to digitize their collections --I've already done that with around 2,000 audio CD's --(Winamp is great for ripping and tagging old CD's --still works a treat on W10 and the gracenote DB used for tagging is far better for obscurer classical music).

I'm not a big fan of music services like spotify etc -- I don't always have the internet on and in any case you might want to store music on say an sd card inside a phone etc etc. I like to have music on my own NAS where I know it won't disappear -- same for backing up say Amazon / Netflix stuff to watch later offline -- also some of the streamed stuff is only available for a short time anyway.

    Cheers

Years ago i'd bought AnyDVD and was given a license. Since they're on an annual basis now i doubt that helps me at all (except i could buy another one).
I bought 123CopyDVD after Redfox and AnyDVD Blu-Ray seemed to have been made to go away. I might not have been clear about the specific product i need help with, and if not i apologize. (BTW, 123CopyDVD is a one-time purchase, not annual)

my update is that I couldn't find anything about this product, 123CopyDVD, on The VideoHelp site.

and (ah- duh- ha), that's why i got this reply from Redfox -
    Dear Michael,
We are really sorry, but we are not familiar with 123DVD Platinum or MakeMKV.
    Kind regards,
    Jill
    Your RedFox Support Team

So i'm still stumbling around in the dark. 123CopyDVD Support doesn't allow Chat or Tickets anymore. Left a help request through the Help in the product, but am not optimistic.

    @jimbo45

I agree. I digitize all of mine and put them on an NAS. I don't upload them or distribute them illegally. I don't even loan my DVDs out to anyone, cuz I don't trust that I would get them back. lol. Plus, if i want to watch something, it is so much easier to play it from my NAS than to get out the DVD. I keep the DVDs, just in case the NAS fails and I lose all the files.

    Hi there

Slightly OT but if you store DVD's as ISO's on a NAS you can use KODI on a remote client (remote android type TV or something like an Amazon fire stick / box) plugged into a TV to directly play the ISO -- you'll get menus etc with all the options just like playing from an old time "DVD player" bit of hardware --no need to convert to MKV or whatever !!!.

VLC has problems with this on remote devices --KODI works just fine.

    Cheers
