Does the Wordstar emulator work on Win10

Does the WordStar emulator work on Win10 with the latest MSWord?
    I know. It's ancient. But I'm old.
    Many thanks.

The emulator recreates many of the keyboard commands from the last version of WordStar. They all use the control key and a letter. The handiest commands move the cursor around the screen using the ctrl key with a letter key. Much faster than a mouse or the cursor keys. To work the most efficiently, you need to swap the ctrl and caps lock keys. There used to be an app for that but I had to edit the registry. I'm using it now on Win7 but am in the middle of dumping my old computer. For more details go here: WordStar Emulator But be advised, I don't know if it will work, hence my question.

If you cannot sort out that emulator then you could try Word's own keyboard shortcut combinations

[pasted from Word 2007 Help - I could not find an online link to this table but I'd bet that it exists somewhere in Microsoft Office help and training - Office Support]
See Keyboard shortcuts for Microsoft Word on Windows - OfficeSupport

I last used WordStar in 1983 but I would not be surprised if all these key combinations were the same in both applications.

Yes, I used WS7 back then, too. Since then I've been able to use the commands my fingers learned, through many versions of Word, thanks to the emulator. As a writer who spends hours most days at the keyboard, it's been a blessing. Alas, apparently it ends with Win10.
    PS, Thanks for the commands.

Wordstar emulator is supposed to work with Word 2013 Can anyone solve?

The WordStar site says it will work with Word 2013 which I have, running on Win10. https://wordstar.org/index.php/wsemu-documentation/wsemu-supported-word-versions/27-will-the-wordstar-command-emulator-work-with-all-versions-of-word

But the install instructions ask you to copy a WordStar file into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office nn\office\STARTUP (where nn is the version number.)

However, when I click on C:\program File\Microsoft Office 15 there is no "office" or "STARTUP" file.

    Can anyone solve this?

    Thanks,

According to a recent post on the WordStar site, the program does work with recent versions of Word. I just can't seem to find out how to get the commands into Word 2013. I will pursue this via the WordStar site if can get a response. To state the obvious, not too many folks are interested in using the WordStar keyboard shortcuts any more.
    thanks

I figured out how to make the WordStar Emulator https://wordstar.org/index.php/wordstar-emulator work in Win10 with Word2013. I'm guessing it will work with the latest version of Word, too.
If anyone has the emulator or plans to buy it to use in the Win10 environment (I'm 64 bit), write me here and I'll send instructions. It's relatively easy. No messing with the registry. You just move some files around. Of course you'll also have to swap the Control and Caps Lock keys. There are simple apps to do this.

    Hi folks
Why not run a Windows version that WordStar still runs on as a Virtual Machine.

Other solutions -- as an elementary Word processing program use Wordpad (I think it's still included with Windows 10), other free office things such as Libreoffice or Kingsoft Office etc.

Unless you have really specific hardware needs I'd always recommend running a legacy program in a Virtual Machine --far less fuss and bother than trying various emulators etc -- also sharing files and printers becomes easy too.

    Cheers
