Free program to update many non-Microsoft softwares

    Hi everyone -

I have been using the free version of this software on several W10 systems with great success, so I wanted to share it here.

    Website:

Patch My PC - Patch Management Made Easy

    Download of the free edition:

Home Updater Overview | Patch My PC

It is portable (non-installable) and updates itself every time you run it.

Let me know how it works for you.

Works great. I've been using it for a couple of years. A few observations. It doesn't update all apps - only the ones that it can detect.

Some apps have folders/ files that should be backed up before updating and it doesn't backup first.

Example: PotPlayer with MadVR plugin is installed on my system. So before updating PotPlayer I need a backup of:

    C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\PotPlayerMini\PotPlayerMini.ini
    C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Daum\PotPlayerMini.ini

Otherwise those "settings" files are sometimes overwritten when auto-updating.

Also I have the free license version of Reg Organizer and there are no updates possible without upgrading to the pro version.
PatchMyPC will try to update it and install the pro version.

So it's possible to configure options for problem apps.

Works very well. Been using it for a long time. Was recommended here on TF by a few members some time ago, so tried it and have been using ever since. Have not had one case of an installer slipping in any unwanted "goodies". Good, clean installers.

Yes, of course. I wish it would do it all, lol.

Only started using this program about 6 months ago (but I knew about it far longer) it does the job well and is configurable to some extent.
Piriform introduced a similar concept for CCleaner, but it has a long way to go - I also don't recommend the updater from Glarysoft.

Could this be the long-awaited successor to Secunia/Flexera Software's Personal Software Inspector (PSI)? I was a huge fan of this tool for years, and very sorry to see it discontinued. OTOH, if one could be bothered to create a text file to drive Chocolatey commands, the same thing could probably be achieved in PowerShell pretty easily (given that most software packages also have Chocolately update packages nowadays).
    Great find: thanks for sharing.

    It's okay for updating these:

Home Updater Supported Products | Patch My PC

For anything else you need a manual check or other solution.

SUMo (Software Update Monitor) keeps your PC up-to-date & safe by using the most recent version of your favorite software ! Unlike built-in auto update features, SUMo tells you if updates are available before you need to use your software.
