How To Remove File Associations Created in Error?

A PC I am asked to maintain has an invalid file association that I cannot remove.
Specifically, it associates the file type .DWG with Acrobat Reader.
Of course, such files are created by AutoCAD and have nothing to do with Acrobat.

I've found .DWG in CLASSES and it points to yet another key that contains a pointer to Acrobat.

I'm not comfortable with arbitrarily removing registry entries based on a hunch.

I've found no way within Windows 10 tools to kill this association -- and it needs to be killed.

Does anyone know of a way to handle this problem?

    Hello wlpeavy,

I created a .reg file below that should unassociate DWG files for you. You'll just need to download it, double click on it to merge it, and then approve all the prompts to confirm.

    Unassociate_DWG.reg

Contents of .reg file for reference:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.DWG]

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.DWG]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.DWG]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Roaming\OpenWith\FileExts\.DWG]
