Windows Media Player for windows 10

I have worked out how to slow seed down for an audio file using Windows Media player for Windows 10, however, I need to be able to save the adjusted file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi folks

    @pietcorus2

OK not the answer to the OP's question but why not use VLC or KODI. KODI will even play some formats that VLC has trouble with and can also play ripped DVD-s (to ISO) with full menus etc.

I loaded KODI on to an amazon fire TV stick (use android phone apps2firetv ti install) and can play everything on my NAS (video and audio) on the fire tv to a remote TV -- built in apps on smart TV's are usually pretty hideous anyway.

To rip DVD's and de-regionalize them simply use something like AnyDVD. I ripped all my DVD's ages ago and have them stored as ISO files on a NAS. I kept the ISO format rather than convert to MKV as I wanted menus / subtitles etc etc just like the original and if I ever needed to I could re-burn back to a physical medium.

CD's can be easily ripped to flac -- if you use the old Winamp it will preserve as far as possible all the track info as it uses the Gracenote music archive lookup -- far better than freedb or other ones out there. I've done that as well. I had around 2500 audio CD's -- all ripped now.

Meanwhile I haven't had a new DVD for donkey's years now -- what on earth would I play it on anyway. !!

    Cheers

Using PowerDVD 19 , its in the right-click menu , after inserting DVD in the drive .
Still it must be possible to play them with WiMP also..........
( what is a mediaplayer , if you cant play your DVDs with it ?)

    Hi there

    Standard commercial DVD's are encrypted.

I think it's a question of licensing fees - PowerDVD paid something to enable the standard DVD's to use the decryption algorithm.

In Linux the version of VLC also incorporates decryption when you install the libdvdcss or libdvdcss2 packages with your distro. Windows Media player AFAIK never could play commercial DVD's due to encryption and licensing issues -- it will play ones you make yourself though. I think VLC in windows also won't play commercial DVD's either -- that's why I ripped with AnyDVD which de-crypts them and de-regionalizes them too.

Lots of work, for using WiMP ( decripting, AnyDVD, etc.)
So , I guess ; better keep using PDVD , which plays every media-file , without any problems at all ............!

    Hi there
A lot of computers etc don't have physical media any more and TV's etc that have a USB connector won't play DVD's (those USB portable DVD's that you can get for a computer).

Also for playing DVD's on a nice large TV when you don't have a DVD player at all then the only way is to use something like a NAS where you'll need the decrypted iso's.

Of course if you already have PowerDVD and a mechanism for playing physical media then that's fine - Windows media player though won't play standard commercial DVD's -- by design due to licensing restrictions. I think also PowerDVD is a commercial (paid) software unless you got a version that came with a portable computer external DVD player so might not be what the OP is looking for.

Also using MediaPlayerClassic ( MPC) for playing DVDs , its just an allround media-player , which you can use for almost all media. Besides ; its totally free .
Thinking of uninstalling WiMP , coz its very limited in its functions............

Not possible, in Windows 10 the function to play DVDs was deliberately removed from Media Player as part of removing the deprecated Media Centre. Those of us who upgraded from a Media Centre edition of W7/8 to W10 in the first year got the 'Windows DVD Player' app as a free replacement. It does the job, but VLC does it better.

    • This free offer is available for a limited time.
    • The app isn't available if you do a clean installation of Windows 10 instead of an upgrade.
    • If you upgrade from an edition of Windows 7 or Windows 8 that doesn’t include Media Center, you may buy the Windows DVD Player or another app that plays DVDs in the Windows Store.
