    Steve C further info

Thanks. I am not even sure what version of Money is running here - only that it works for me. I believe the installation was in June 2014 using my file USMoneyDlxSunset.exe size 34,834Kb. The Help button tells me I am using Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe ver 17.0.120.3817. No mention of the word Sunset you will note! My original plan was to get a new HDD with W10 working then use the Money install file to get Money operational and the run the latest data file which I would have copied to the new drive from my older (ex-C) drive. The entire operation would be totally reversible in the event of problems by shutting down, removing the new drive and re-booting using my old C-drive.

I considered a SSD for the reasons you stated but decided on the 1TB Seagate to avoid too many new technologies on my motherboard and processor and my own old brain at once. I tried using Macrium a few years back and got somewhat befuddled by the menu options offered and lost confidence.

My existing C-drive is about 7 years old which is why I felt a new one would have a longer potential life. I never switch it off to avoid wear and tear but 7 years is a long time and it is getting a little full (70 percent)

I have already acquired the OEM disk for a new W10 system. I thought a free upgrade offer had lapsed a year or more ago - and I could not remember if my W7 was an upgrade from XP but I now think I also bought it new and had a new motherboard at the same time to handle 64-bit.

Anyhow - if any of the above affects your advice let me know. And I should like to be confident of what Money I am currently running and how to be sure I get the same after the W10 upgrade. however it is achieved. Your advice is very much appreciated. PS My brain is 73 years old. PPS I had also subliminally preferred new installation of all programs I needed despited the time involved just to ensure no old incompatibilities emerged. Does that make any sense?

The last version if Money for the UK is money 2005 using this installation file Money2005-UK-QFE2.exe . If the US version works then fine but it's not optimised for UK users. I might give the latest US version a spin on a backup PC to try it out. Note the US version might not open a UK Money file and vice versa which means you are probably stuck using the US version unless you want to start afresh with your Money accounts,

Get the file by following the links here:
    https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/...rs?forum=money
Download Microsoft Money 2005 for free – View from the Potting Shed

Microsoft (MS) Money Patches and Fixes

The file in the last link to enable dual drop down lists is worth grabbing.

This version of Money shows the following version:
    Attachment 255187
Installing and maintaining a SSD i no different to using a HDD and is far more responsive. The latest version of Reflect is fairly easy to use - you just select the option to backup all partitions needed to recover Windows:

    Attachment 255188
Your Windows 7 installation should still upgrade for free - see the tutorial on the forum. I still have hard drives from 2006 working just fine!

    Resolution

Thanks Steve C - I reckon I am most systems go now. For the record re Money Sunset and W10 install I have my data working perfectly on W10.
    Steps used were :
Install W10 from new system CD to a new 500Gb SSD
Copy data files from old HDD to new SSD
    Download USMoneyDlxSunset dot exe
Go through updates of W10 (only 2 sessions were needed with re-starts) Without the updates Money would NOT run.
Then select the .mny data file using the File Restore option to open an old Money file rather than the repair option.
    Bingo.
I am now struggling to get Outlook 365 properly working using my .pst file (20 years of history) with Live Mail insisting on its own set of folders. I shall post in a more appropriate thread after some more research. Many thanks again.

I'm interested you use the US version of Money Sunset which is later than the Last UK version of Money 2005. I would give the US version a spin but it seems it won't read my 20+ years of transactions in my UK money file. Note the UK version is optimised for things like UK tax returns.

What version was the Windows 10 you used for the clean install? If an early version then it would not have the fix for Internet Explorer which prevents Money working. The best method is to use the Media Creation Tool and install the latest version of Windows 10 directly.

For email I always use IMAP setting and all mail synchronises across all devices.

Can't get msMoney to Open (0xc1500002): upgraded from W8 to W10 a year ago on this PC; seems to be fine. Now trying to move msMoney from a W7 PC to this PC. Downloaded msMoney from MS-site, to this PC and had AUTORUN error. Found a work-around but now get error 0xc1500002. Ideas?

This W10 PC software is up-to-date. I've run MSERT, ‘sfc /scannow’, etc and found NO problems. You’re my last option …

Uninstall it then try installing it again from an admin account. Run the installation program as an administrator in admin mode and in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

UNinstalled. Downloaded again from MS-site. To be clear, to avoid AUTORUN.inf error, Ran from Administrator: Command Prompt:
    =====
    cd %USERPROFILE%\*documents
    USMoneyDlxSunset.exe /C /T:%TEMP%\Sunset
    cd %TEMP%\Sunset
    mnyinst
    =====
Money install replied: Setup was unable to install some components needed to run Money. Try installing Money again.
    I clicked FINISH.

When I DIR the newly created "Microsoft Money Plus", it shows only 2 files (readme.htm and sample.mny) and 2 Dir(s).
    Is that reasonable?

Did you try the files from here https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/...rs?forum=money

I use the UK version of MS Money (Money2005-UK-QFE2.exe) and have no problems. I suggest you post a message on the above forum if you continue to have problems. Note IE11 needs to be installed and enabled in Windows 10 to run MS Money.

I am using MS Money UK version 14.0.120.1105 and W10 without any issues at all and I also have Dan Gaier’s MSMoneyQuotes installed as well; all my (UK) shares update without any problems as do my bank’s imported qif files.

I expect to have a USA bank account next year and something tells me that it would be easier to install US Money Deluxe Sunset to handle the US bank account downloaded imported files.

Does anyone have both the UK version and the Sunset version of MS Money installed on their W10 machine? Do they work independently of each other without causing any problems?
