Cortana crashes when asking about my next appointments

    Hello,
it's been at least one week since I encountered this strange problem with Cortana, working perfectly fine except when I ask about my next appointments "what's on my schedule?" (in Italian, but I guess it's the same in English or other languages)... in this case crashes silently with error:

When I ask other things like currency conversion, about the weather etc. Cortana works fine. Same for search function: no issues there. No DISM or SFC /SCANNOW errors found. Cortana reinstall using PowerShell was also useless.

Notice I use Windows Calendar + Mail std programs, and I'm afraid this started since some recent Windows Update... can you reproduce this error?

Hint: here is a list of things you can ask Cortana

Send it to Microsoft at the Microsoft Insiders forum. The Cortana crashing has been known to be a problem for well over four years. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...=#/insider///1

Personally, I would use a different calendar program.

Thank you, I'd like to fix this bug though, not using something else...

Never going to happen. MS would have fixed the Cortana crashing issue by now if they cared. See this. Microsoft Says Cortana Won't Compete With Alexa and Google Assistant - ExtremeTech. MS has already teamed up with Amazon, to allow Alexa to handle Cortana commands. Microsoft does have the Cortana source code examples available on GitHUb. GitHub - microsoft/cortana-samples: Code samples for Cortana extensibility.

This bug is not reproducible on another PC of mine, so there's a issue somewhere (or some custom settings causing the issue) I'm just trying to fix... I don't expect Cortana to be the best of all, but I want to fix this annoying and specific crash at least (besides this issue, Cortana works fine and doesn't crash for any other operation. My case is not the typical "I type anything in Cortana and crashes, or search does not work").

    SOLVED

Well, I think this is clearly a Microsoft bug...
    Changing:

Cortana settings > Permissions > Manage the information Cortana can access from this device > Contacts, email, calendar & communication history = ON

solved the issue (was OFF). I don't really think it should crash if you turn it off and just ask for next appointments anyway…

Has Microsoft changed something and removed some Cortana functions?
"What's on my schedule" always fails with an error now.
