StartMenu has entries for UNinstalled apps -- how to rebuild/refresh?

    I've updated a Win7 instance to Win10Pro.

The upgrade went without a hitch.

On the new instance, I've got three users/accounts, each an 'admin' acct:

    Administrator (admin user)
    User1 (admin user)
    User2 (admin user)

I used RevoUninstallerPro -- which uses per-app PowerShell scripts -- to remove a number of unwanted Windows apps, including:

Skype, GameBar, XBox*, Solitaire, CandyCrush*, YourPhone, etc ...

After the removals, those apps ARE gone from the StartMenu for both "Administrator" and "User1".

But they *still* appear in the "User2" start menu.

For example, only in the "User2" StartMenu, I see a "Your phone" icon/entry. If you select it, nothing launches ...

How do you REMOVE the entries for the nonexistent apps from User2's StartMenu?

Removing %temp%/files for the user doesn't change/improve the menu status/contents at all.

Is there a refresh/rebuild mechanism for StartMenu?

Hello prg, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Which option did you use to uninstall the Windows Store apps.

Uninstall Apps in Windows 10 | Tutorials

You might see if reinstalling all apps, and uninstall them again for all users from above may help.

Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10 | Tutorials

For desktop apps in the "All Apps" list in the Start menu, you might see if you may be able to remove the entries using an option in the tutorial below depending if it's only for your account or all accounts.

    Hi Brink,

    As mentioned, "I used RevoUninstallerPro",

Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs easily, Forced Uninstall, Leftovers Uninstaller, Portable Uninstaller

    Its 'uninstall windows apps' capability,

    Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstaller

provides/execs PowerShell scripts for specific app uninstalls. That'd appear most similar to the methods referred to in:

Uninstall Apps in Windows 10 | Tutorials

I'm reading those tutorials through now. I'd hope that Revo does that for you correctly, but perhaps not ...

In any case, I'm looking to understand where the StartMenu 'data' is stored for a given user, if it's accessible, and *correctable*.

Individual user start menu is in
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
and 'all users' is in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Apps may appear also courtesy of some Windows magic I don't have (in my case all apps have been removed). Is that any help? Martin

Nothing helpful, or removable, that made any difference in those dirs.

I went with your 'magic' speculation .... and brute-forced it.

    As admin I exec'd

    Code:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    SFC /scannow
rebooted, then manually, using the 'Uninstall Apps in Windows 10 | Tutorials' link Brink provided, used PowerShell to rip out all the bloatware for each user.

what a pain! but, the good news, the bloatware's gone for each/all users. Here's hoping that MS doesn't decide "for our benefit" to force-reinstall it with some surprise upgrade ...

    Thx for the assist!
