    Hello yahanna,

You might see if reinstalling and re-registering all apps using an option in the tutorial below may be able to help.

In that case, you could try doing a repair install to fix them without losing anything.

    Hi brink,

A bit confused on the link. I want to do as you suggested, which is a repair install and keep all my files and folders. But the link mentions Refresh and Reset. As I said I dont want to lose any files or folders. So would the option for this be Refresh?

    Hi,

The tutorial does mention Refresh and Reset at the beginning, but if you read on, it is all about repair install -

    Quote:

"If you're having problems with Windows 10 on your PC, you could use push-button reset to refresh or reset Windows.

Refresh your PC Fixes software problems by reinstalling the OS while preserving the user data, user accounts, and important settings. All other preinstalled customizations are restored to their factory state. In Windows 10, this feature no longer preserves user-acquired Windows apps.

Reset your PC prepares the PC for recycling or for transfer of ownership by reinstalling the OS, removing all user accounts and contents (e.g. data, Classic Windows applications, and Universal Windows apps), and restoring preinstalled customizations to their factory state.

The options above are great for what they are intended for, but you could also do a repair install of Windows 10 by performing an in-place upgrade without losing anything other than all installed Windows Updates."

    Hope this helps. :)

    Hey Eddie,

By doing a repair install, I know I wouldnt lose my files. But would I lose my installed programs?

No worries. You will not lose anything doing a repair install.

Refresh and Reset was only for reference in the tutorial for comparison with the repair install.

    Hi Brink,

Just to let you know, I renamed the windows apps folder which is why I'm not able to open win apps. I did this by mistake thinking it would resolve my system restore issue. Anyway, I changed the windows apps folder through these commands (found on youtube) in cmd in safe mode:

    1) cd C:\Programs
    2) takedown /f WindowsApps /r /d Y
    3) icacls WindowsApps /grant "%USERDOMAIN%\%USERNAME%"F) /t
    4) attrib WindowsApps -h
    5) rename WindowsApps WindowsApps.Old

Do you suggest that I run these commands again but this time rename the WindowsApps folder? If so, which commands do you suggest I perform?

    .

You can see if you may be able to just rename the WindowsApps.Old folder back to WindowsApps.
