Recommendations For A Portable File Encryption Utility

Many moons ago in the days of Win XP I used a wonderful small tool called dsCrypt to encrypt individual files:
    DS Software

Sadly, the software is no longer maintained and does not work on any version of Windows above XP.

Any recommendations for something similar for Win 10?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi folks

Hope that's right !!!! Loved my visit to Tel Aviv recently -- Best Orange Juice in the entire Galaxy, beautiful beaches etc -- Loved it.

    "Google is your Friend"
    This one works though

AES Crypt - Advanced File Encryption

Otherwise just Google for DES 128 bit encryption

Maybe also in your neighbourhood Mossad has decent algorithms for that -- sometimes those things go into public domain too. Security services often release Encryption protocols that they don't use any more but are still absolutely robust enough for basic commercial and individuals to use safely.

You'll never hide your stuff from professional security services but who cares anyway --they aren't bothered if you've failed to declare a 100 EUR tax free bonus from Andorra / Luxembourg etc when filing your Tax returns !!!!!!.

They even have a public website available but you have to register :

I wouldn't qualify -- too old and probably too Scandi looking !!"!!!

Anyway good Luck and again I really enjoyed Tel Aviv.

    Hi jimbo,

    Yes, you got it right

I actually looked at AES Crypt but seems it might only be up to Win 8 but I will ask on the forums if they plan more releases, including for Win 10.

Mossad would never take me either, way past my sell by date ;-)

Glad you enjoyed Tel Aviv, there is much to see and do there (well, in all of Israel really).

You could try Axcrypt, I used it till version 2 was discontinued, then it transformed to an encrypted storage rather than encrypting individual files, though they still claim, they do, maybe you will like it.

I just use 7-zip to encrypt files via AES-256, it can also encrypt file names.

You need to add a key and choose encryption options. The original file remains and an encrypted copy is created unless you choose to overwrite the original.

    @ TairikuOkami and Callender

    Appreciate the suggestions, thank you.

Axcrypt: did not do it for me and 7-zip, also not what I wanted.

Hyper Crypt is unfortunately not fully portable, it writes logs to the local user AppData folder and also requires .Net 4

I am looking at AES Crypt again because it seems that according to the forum there it should work on Win 10.

Thanks for all the suggestions and input.
