    Data Recovery Tool

Hi I'm looking for a totally free recovery tool I recently downloaded easeus but realized you only get to recover 500mb then you have to upgrade so if there is a tool out there that is free and lets you recover more than 500mb I would appreciate the help thanks.

I've used Kickass Undelete with success....

    Features:

    • Free and Open Source
    • Support for both FAT and NTFS filesystems
    • Filter by filename and extension
    • Easy-to-use interface
    • Unreasonably large scan button
Kickass Undelete - a free, open source file recovery tool for Windows

    Do you mean
Recovery of contents of a failed disk
    OR
Recovery of deleted files on a working disk
    ?
Different tools apply to these two different requirements.

I would urge you to edit your original post to one of these two titles. You could also then search TenForums for relevant existing threads [of which there are many].

If you are referring to Recovery of contents of a failed disk then it would help you a lot if you added a description of the symptoms of failure [so that those with the most relevant experience of disk failures can best assist you].
Please note that I am not experienced with successful recovery so cannot offer any advice. On the only occasion on which I had a disk "fail" it just suddenly disappeared in the middle of a file copy operation but, even though File explorer could see it when reconnected in a USB caddy, none of the relevant recovery tools could see the disk at all.

Getdataback and Recuva are 2 other tools you see mentioned a bit. I've never used either one.

Member Jumanji is kind of the resident expert on this stuff. Maybe he will see this thread.

Tick the box for 'Show system files and unknown file types', preferably before you click Scan.

Most of the commercial products offer trials, but they are limited in the amount of data you can recover. Better to use a backup imaging tool on a regular basis for miss deleted files. Usually easy to recover a file(s) from the backup with drag and drop.

Recuva can do the job of recovering deleted files. I have not seen any size limit to its free version.

At the bottom-right of all your posts you will see Edit post. You can click on that to edit the title & content of your posts.
