Hello, welcome to tenforums. I suggest you first check your disk.

You might try HD Tune (free) - portable version available if you can't install it, given the dubious state of your PC.
    Download Portable HD Tune 2.55
Please use both the Health and Error Scan tabs and post the result.

To post a screenshot, please use the Insert Image icon above your post.

    Possible approach after that:
If that's ok, it would be necessary to have chkdsk complete before attempting an in-place upgrade repair instal which keeps all progs, data, and most settings. I think that's probably the direction to go, as we don't know what damage has been done.

History: as we know nothing of your laptop: what prompted you to run chkdsk, or was it triggered automatically? Were you experiencing problems before that? Do you use disk imaging as is very strongly advised here? If so, you have the means to restore your PC to a previous working state quickly and without technical help.

If not, you should start using it once your PC is running again. Macrium Reflect (free) + large external storage.

What is your Windows build? Win key + r, winver
Sadly most people don't mention it, and it isn't a forum requirement.

Hi, let's take my post step by step then.

Please first check your disk using HD Tune (free) - portable version available if you can't install it, given the dubious state of your PC.
    Download Portable HD Tune 2.55
Please use both the Health and Error Scan tabs and post the result.

(Windows search should have nothing to do with your disk usage being 100%, unless your disk has a problem, perhaps - so let's check it).

How much free space do you have on C: ?

The idea is to be certain of the ground before attempting anything. That's fairly quick to do, and basic.

What is your Windows build? Win key + r, winver

Will wait for your disk check result. So 1803, pretty much current.

Great- good disk. So now I suggest you try this from an admin command or powershell prompt:

    chkdsk c: /scan

Note this only checks your file system- it does no repairs. No restart required. Lets see what it says...
