problem with directory permissions / installation

I run a piece of software called videopsalm. It was working fine for several months, then after a windows update it started having problems writing the temp files it needs. (unable to find/write temp files in documents subfolders)

I've uninstalled it and I'm trying to reinstall and I'm getting the error:
"an error occurred while trying to create the directory:
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\VidoePsalm"

I believe this may be related to the previous problem.
My user login is an administrator.
From what I can see permissions appear to be correct, but I wouldn't rulw that out.

Some threads I've read seem to suggest it might be something to do with OneDrive?

The update may have turned on Controlled Folder Access (also known as ransomware protection), C:\UsersPublic\Documents\ is one of the folders that is protected by default. If so, you could either turn off Controlled Folder Access or (preferably) add the videopsalm program to the list of permitted apps.

    HA!, That was it.
I did both just to be sure, and it's working as intended again now.
    Thanks Bree.

Ransomware protection is worth turning on, I have it turned on on all my machines. Occasionally having to add an app to the permitted list is a small price to pay for peace of mind IMHO
