How can I get Notepad to show white margins on the top and sides?

I recently got a Windows 10 computer that I've been customizing to visually resemble my previously-owned Windows Vista & 7 computers. I'm making great progress towards finalizing my customization, but I've hit a bit of a roadblock.

I want Notepad to show those little white margins at the top & sides of the program window, like it used to do on Windows Vista & Windows 7. See here:

    •No margin

    •With margin

The problem is, I've tried numerous searches on Google about dealing with this issue, only to hardly get any results! Surely, there must be something that can be done to get those margins back--a registry tweak, a third-party program, anything at all!

Can anyone please help me out in some way? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

There are plenty of notepad 'replacements' around of course, with extra features.

    Welcome to TenForums TheMouseAvenger,

What version of Windows 10 does Winver say you have?

The thread @dalchina pointed you to was specifically discussing problems seen in Notepad after upgrading to version 1703, the Creators Update.

I noticed after the Creators update that the left and top margins in Notepad are now set to zero...

Having said that, I cannot reproduce this 'no margin' bug in a clean install of 1703.

Nor does it appear in an un-tweaked default install of 1803 or 1809.

It is down to the metrics of the Font you are using.
It has always been the same.
    Change your Font.

Notepad's default font in all the screenshots I posted above was Consolas Regular, size: 11.

I'm not sure. But if I'm going to find out, how do I access this Winver thing of which you speak?

Well, there's a funny thing about that... ^^;; On my older computers, the Notepad program had the margins I'm looking to replicate, even with this particular font style in use (see this screenshot taken from my old Vista).
