everytime PC boots up windows, time is off by 6 hours to the minute

Again, I go to adjust date/time, turn off then turn on automatic time, and it updates to the correct time.

Anyway to read what the bios thinks is the time? I suppose could reboot and take a look.

ok, pc bios in setup was set to 20:03:xx time, so it was set wrong.
I adjusted the time, then the windows on boot shows the correct time.

See in linux, the os at boot syncs automatically with internet time,so as long as you have internet connection, time is always correct. If there is no internet, then linux sets time by the bios clock.

It was interesting that after the windows boot, after fixing bios clock, windows displayed 10 something am, which was wrong, but when I left clicked the time it adjusted by itself to 3 pm something. I watched it do that. So windows always uses bios clock even if set to use internet time sync.
But windows remembered the wrong time right at boot from previous error, so it must read something off a stored file, but it did correct itself.

In my experience, windows has never been able to sync properly the time. I have a win7 PC,, I use for recording TV, I had to turn off time sync cause it was always 2 minute slow. And after I turned it off and manually set time, it has been within seconds of true time. So my experience has not been so good.

My PC is on all the time 24 hours a day 7 days a week, it is only off if it breaks.

Sounds crazy but do you have right time zone selected. If this is desktop I would shut off set time zone automatically and see if that resolves.

Yes, that was it, the bios time was off.
I am used to using Linux, and that is never an issue.

Like I said - I don't dual boot Linux but I think that is the problem.

As for Windows I sync time using this:

Hi, thanks for the link. I was able I think to sync my win7 pc properly.
I had to turn off windows time sync, windows 7 was always syncing 2 minutes slow, and was adjusting it by hand every so often. Setup a task schedule for it using that program once per day. Will help keep the TV shows properly recorded using WMC..

IT is still working great, running that little program.Keeps the time accurate and TV shows properly recorded.

I set it to run at least once a day, and it it is always off by a few seconds, which before this program adds up to minutes of time.
