This looks like another product which rates itself as the best image file duplicate finder on the planet by it's author. I always look upon these claims with a jaundiced point of view. Is this the software you are using to find duplicate file images, or are you trying to be very helpful by trying it out and seeing if it works, in the way that I would prefer to work. My need is principally for finding duplicate .jpg file with the same picture but a different filename, in different specified folders. Simple stuff. I'll take whatever they do on top of that as a bonus, which I may never use. Although I can see a need to compare a folder of .jpg files to an entire disk. super all singing and all dancing softwares are often difficult to understand and operate easily. I would prefer when the software finds a match that it puts up both pictures up on the screen so that I can decide which picture to keep, and which to delete, and possibly where to save the kept picture (although I could manually do that after I've finished with the duplicate picture file finder. I was impressed with how Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4 was not complicated to use and found all my duplicate .jpg files. I would have preferred for the program to have seen side-by-side pictures to have been shown to me, but I can live with clicking on an icon for both files to satisfy me they are the same picture, to the point that I don't actually need to view any pictures, and I can just bulk delete all the picture in my "old" folder. This in no way meant to be a criticism of your helpful posts. I have really appreciated your contributions in this thread. I haven't yet decided which software I will yet go with. I'm still testing. But I would say that Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4, has been the most compatible with my modus operandum so far, and is the front running contender. I welcome any criciticism and praise about this software, as well as any recommendations which anybody might consider would more suite my needs. Thank you all for your participation.

I looked at this, but haven't downloaded it yet. It looks awesome. But from my quick review I could not establish if this would search and identify for all duplicate graphics files, in specified folders, or in the whole disk. Which duplicates could then be deleted easily. I think, as you said yourself, this is a tool which goes far beyond my requirements. I usually the KISS method of solving problems. But I truely appreciate your contribution to this thread. thank you.

This looks like quite a nice program. But from you website, I couldn't tell if you could compare 2 folders, or 1 folder and the entire disk, and identify identical graphics files (mostly .jpg), and preferably put both (or all the same) pictures up on the screen, decide which to keep and possibility to delete the others, and possibility to either transfer the remaining picture to the other folder or to another folder. Can your program do that? Could you give me a screenshot? How big is the learning curve?

The throwing up of the 2 or more pictures up on the screen does not need to be in real time. I'd prefer the search to complete, and then I click on the section which has identified similar files, and handle the appropriately before moving onto the next batch of similar files. Clicking on an icon to see the file, and then having to click on an icon of the other similar file, which replaces the old picture, works, but it would of course be preferable, if all similar pictures were shown on the screen at the same time. If Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4 had been designed like that. I would have probably bought it immediately. Because the price is small compared to the hours saved. And the functionality was intuitive (easy to lean and use without the need to plough thru all the documentation).
I'm not asking for anybody to redesign their software. I'm just stating how I would prefer this to work Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4, is the closest I've seen. Is all I am saying. I could live with it, if there isn't anything better out there.

Okay it gets confusing. Maybe use whatever duplicate finder you like but for non duplicates check this out.
I created two test folders containing identical images but deleted a few images from one folder. So it looks like this:
So some images are not present in the first folder. Then I used TSR Copy Changed Files to find non duplicates and copy them into the first folder.
Result:
All images present in both folders.

Sorry to confuse things further but I just noticed that AllDup will actually find non duplicate files. I reckon that it will be easy to spot duplicates and non duplicates due to the way the results are grouped.
Suggest: Copy some problem folders and do test runs on those copies to get used to the program.

There is another algorithm, (visual), based image duplicate finder which may be what you are looking for ... that works automatically on all or a subset of your folders, and checks for visual similarities, it can find similar images that are taken from slightly different angles, [useful for today's burst shooting found on Smartphones up], as well as copies

If your images are from a digital camera, (rather than a variety of web etc sources0, there is a Metadata tag "Unique image identifier" that may be compared in applications like Adobe bridge to find duplicates that were modified from a root image, {Tag} Is Equal and should be able to be used to find non duplicates Eg. {Tag} is not Equal Etc - not simple but can be very powerfulLast edited by Barman58; 10 Feb 2019 at 03:48.
