Up until this point you got me highly interested :) We are talking about File Voyager here? Yes? And AllDup is a command in File Voyager? Yes? Then you posted your last post. And the picture said you were using Copy Changed Files and your post after that says you are using ALLDup, Are these all separate programs you are proposing as a solution to my request? If they are. Are these all yours? It looks like AllDup is what I'm looking for. Where to find it?

OK. I downloaded AllDup. It's a tad more complicated than Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4 with it's options, and I haven't really figure out how the bulk delete works. otherwise, it's quite close to what I need. I'm still experimenting, but it feels not bad for a free program.

Yes they are different programs. AllDup does take a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it - it's great.

TSR Copy Changed files is for copying files that are either different (changed in some way) or else not present in specified location.

As for File Voyager - it does the job but AllDup is probably a better solution.

If you need to keep duplicate copies of images in several locations then once you have sorted out the images to your liking I reckon you should consider getting some file/ folder sync software.

Ok. I tried AllDup. It was a faster scan but much slower in operation than Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4. I found that DCP4 did have a side by side large thumbnail mode. The problem being was that it slowed down considerably because it tried to show all the pictures at once on the same screen as the file list. With approx 3200 pictures it was unbearable. So back to regular text mode. All my dupe pictures I were looking for at this time were in on of 1 of 2 folders. in 1 folder each file had a prefix. So it was easy to delete everything, even if they were 1 by 1 to tag them. There may be a way to have tagged the whole folder, which would have been much faster, But I couldn't find it. Although I didn't look very hard. But overall DCP4 was quite a lot easier to use than AllDup. Probably because AllDup was more powerful, with much more detailed options, which made it more difficult to use. The simpler options in DCP4 made it more simple to operate. Right up my alley. I think the presentation of DCP4 was quite a lot nicer than AllDup (although I would hesitate to say "much").

So why did I decide upon DCP4 and pay $25 for it. Well for one I did not relish testing many free programs, only to find them wanting in some way. It was going in that direction. This might have taken a whole week of time to do it properly. Time not well spent. I had found a solution which pretty much met my needs. I saved a lot of time and money getting this job done. It's done already (although now I have the tool, I got a lot more of the same ilk to do :) So I can move onto the next task, with some freshness of mind and thought. It was the best tool for my needs I'd tried. And I can now use it again to better arrange my hard disk in the future. The $25 might have been steep comparing against some freeware, But it's has saved me $100's because the task has been completed in super quick time. I can certainly recommend that you should check it out if you are looking for a duplicate file cleaner, including graphics. Unless you abhor paying for anything :) But then you waste a lot of time checking out a lot of not so good looking/working software. Time is money. Lest we forget.
