Trying to convert a concert DVD to MP3 with VLC not working

I have a Jimmy Buffett concert DVD that plays great (video) with VLC music player. I'm trying to convert the files to MP3 so I can burn a CD and play it in my car. I've read the directions so many times I almost have them memorized, and I've watched VLC's video on YouTube, but after doing the conversion and playing the music back on VLC, it sounds like it's double-time, the playback is twice the speed of the recording-almost gibberish.

I wonder if there's a setting to control that-or if I changed some setting w/o realizing it to cause that. I'm open to ideas or suggestions. TIA

Need more info. Error description ? Crash info ? How about a screen print of the results ?

Sorry, but I'm not sure what other information you need. There's no crash or screen print of the results. As I said in the original post, it plays the music after the file has been converted but it sounds like it's at twice the original speed-imagine a 33 1/3 rpm record spinning at 67 rpm. Sorry, but I don't know how to attach a sound clip.

I have just tried converting a DVD to an mp3 using VLC by following the instruction here...

How to Extract Audio from a DVD using VLC Media Player

...the audio plays back perfectly whatever media player I use, including VLC and Groove Music.

That's the instructions I referenced in my first post. I have since tried to do this on a second laptop, also running W10, with the exact same (almost gibberish) results.

What are your settings under Profile? Under the Encapsulation tab I have Audio with a black dot and a green check at Audio.
Under the Audio tab I have Codec set to MP3, Bitrate set to 127 kb/s, Channels set to 2, and Sample rate set to 44100 Hz.

I didn't touch the Profile, just left it at the defaults. Looking at it now they are the same as yours, except I don't see Audio with a black dot in Encapsulation, I see MP3 instead.

What version of VLC do you have? I used 3.0.3 Vetinari.
