That is what is confusing me; I never installed RoboForm Companion - just the extension for Edge. So if by installing the extension for Edge is in effect installing RoboForm Companion - then why is support suggesting to install the extension in Edge if it is a known problem?
I don't use Edge, never liked it, but I do use Firefox, and I use the Roboform Addon for FF , I took a screen shot off what mine looks like...

Yes, I always did like using RoboForm with good old FireFox and Windows 7.

I have several support tickets over the last year with RoboForm and they have come through every time. It seems like RoboForm is in the development stage for the Edge Browser still and we are the testers that report problems.

If I could I would remove Edge completely, but Windows does not allow me too.

Windows integrated a lot of things into the OS that can't be removed without consequences. They are so deeply imbedded into the OS, that if you cut one of the vessels to its overall function, the rest of the OS suffers.

So far, RoboForm support is baffled with the problem report I sent them. They don't know yet if RoboForm Companion.exe is supposed to be running or not in UAC Virtualization.

Of course it is running naturally when you have the Edge browser open; but RoboForm Companion.exe (naturally a part of the RoboForm Download) doesn't have access to a write protected folder in UAC virtualization, so therefore throws out the error I've been getting in the Reliability History report and rendering RoboForm unusable.

Naturally, they will have to rewrite the source code in the next RoboForm update to include the .xml file that bypasses the write protected folder security when the RoboForm Companion.exe process is launched.

I could write the .xml file myself if they would tell me which folder the Companion process is trying to write to; but they said they can't tell me because that is part of the proprietary rights of the program.

So in closing, I guess I'll have to wait for the next RoboForm update or see if support sends me a hotfix since this is a special specific case in which it is triggered on my system due to some irrational source code protocol.

Can I suggest you find Roboform Companion.exe or whatever it is, rt click, Properties, and post screenshots of where it is and what it is. (General and Details property sheets).

Other than what I found I haven't a clue what it might be- or even if it's by Roboform.

Roboform Companion.exe is not any part of Roboform 8.5.5.5
I just did a search and it is not found anywhere on my SSD
You had to download that separate, as it is NOT included with any RoboForm I have ever installed.

I stand corrected. It is not part of the RoboForm download itself; however, if you use Edge (which you don't) the extension includes the Companion.exe file. It is tucked away in the WindowsApps folder after downloading the extension.

I did not voluntarily download the RoboForm Companion, it was included with the extension (from the Windows Store) with no option of deselecting it upon download.

RoboForm is useless without the extension; yet if I use the extension, I have a RoboForm that intermittently shuts down and becomes unresponsive.

It is funny how after Cumulative Updates from Windows, things just automatically become unresponsive or don't work that had no problems working before.

Thanks, now we know what we're talking about..

I have Roboform integrated with Edge and have those two files as you show. No problems known.. but Edge isn't the browser I normally use.

    Conflict with some other extension?
